col...some people need a reality check

over and over and over..the choice of trip acceptance is BOTH personal and business...What i choose to run is mine and mine alones choice.

How prolific I wrote this here back in Feb. 2003:

"Luck, patience, toss in some restraint and a pinch of internal fortitude and the belief that good things happen to good people and just maybe we may make it in this topsy turvy business!"

4 years later....???

BTW...bonus?? It must be still in the mail....*L*

One mans load to a dead zone, is another mans load to his house.

This is why that ND load was covered, by a driver that lives that way. But that driver in order to get out for the week, must have to drive empty to a better area, or dead head a lot to pick something up.

This is why these obscure loads get covered for the same rate without bonuses.

I never expected a bonus. The only thing I expect when asking for extra money is to be turned down. When I am told there are other trucks in the area then I must decide to take the load at the going rate or decline it knowing someone else will probably take it. I can live with that. My point is there will usually be someone willing to take a load no matter what the price or where it is going.

Back in April I ran two loads from St. Paul to Winnipeg. I asked for and received an extra $150 both times. I have also been successful getting extra money for loads going into Montana and Saskatchewan. Places I know I have to deadhead out of.

I got hit with a dispatch offer this morning for Monday pick up and delivery. I had to turn it down twice before they got the money to an acceptable, albeit not good, level. Both times I figured someone else would take it but it made it back to me. Naturally it was automotive freight. Frankly, I am glad we don't have any more of that than we do.

NLM will not increase the rates or have anything to do with it. There is a lot more to it that just having a tier 1 supply rating or carriers involved. The got hundreds of carriers sitting on the sidelines waiting for a load.
