i'm talking to fed-ex cc.i'm going to be running a team op.fed-ex cc says that we can make around $4,200 a week.is this true?we will run hard of course, but don't want some recruter just telling me any amount just to get me to sign up.also,i'm thinking of buying a new truck.i think a new truck will have less problems than a used one.what are if any thoughts on this venture.i'm going in blind but don't want to make a mistake.:)

Yes you can make $4,200.00 a week, but not every week. That would be $218,400.00 a year. Those numbers would put a smile on anybodys face.

The best question to ask is,"What does the average team earn per year"?.Then you can realistically add about 10 or 15%, because you are above average.(right?)

I asked the question this way of my recruiter, and got an honest answer.I wont put the figures up here because that was 12 years ago.It also was for a "C"unit.(Moved up from a "B").

You answered your own question. If going in blind, expect it to be a big mistake.
Starting with EO, start reading and learning as much as you can. You can never be educated enough in this business. And when you think you might be, they will change everything. Look at just the hours of service fiasco.
Spend time at truck stops and talk to as many drivers as you can. Once you have compiled a sufficient amount of information, then start approaching recruiters with your individual questions.

Good luck and please educate yourself before jumping in.

The published data from FedEx Custom Critical indicate the 2002-2004 avg annual revenues for C, D, E units were $74,059, $97,778 and $138,089 respectively. Tariff and Fuel Surcharge increases would increase these figures for the present. I suspect that each of the recruiters was giving you ballpark figures of their perception of your earning potential rather that historical numbers. Whether future ballpark or historical averages, neither of these figures is of much value until you have determined your projected costs of doing business.

Please heed the advice of DaveKC. We all would like to have you as a permanent, successful member of EO and the expedite fleet. Both you and your chosen carrier will best be served if you have all the relevant answers before you commit to a truck purchase and lease agreement.

There's no way to get that information specifically on solo only or team only is there?

There is a way...The FedEx Custom Critical average annual revenue for Singles and teams for the years 2002-2004. The numbers indicate full year, non-White Glove trucks avail at least 60% of the full year.

SINGLE TEAM

B $41,971.70 $56,002.46

C $60,625.84 $102,504.94

D $72,502.78 $121,368.09

E $101,024.85 $162,412.91

If you have a B license, you can drive anything short of a semi. I don't know what Maryland's law is, but in Michigan a B overrides a chauffer's.

B unit is a van, C is usually a straight/box truck up to 26,000 (or up to 18' length), a D is a straight truck over 18'. Those are only generalizations as each company has its own stats.
