Sylectus Conference; Who's Attending?

Well I don't know... it could be about 99.999% at this point.

But see here is the thing, I wonder because most of us who are doing this thing a bit differently have questions that are not really discussed here. Most of what people seem to talk about is speculation and assumption of how companies run or what matters as it still comes down to what many of us laugh being treated as trade secrets. Outside of Mr. Elliot, I don't even see recruiters come here and talk about things, let alone CEOs and it makes me wonder how companies are listening to their contractors in order to be better for all.

For Phil to write an article about something he "experienced" goes back to what his point of view is and how would that helps any one that works outside the box? He just got the clue that there is life beyond FedEx while others have been doing a lot more for a lot longer and know what we should be asking.

BAZZINGA!!!

The Golden Lugnut has been so busy, But Greg! Your comment to the OP needed a BAZZINGA!

Most of them won't for fear the contractors will get a clearer picture of whats going on. As far as expediting over the years, the internet has created somewhat better transparancy that many companies don't want their contractors to see. That is everything from freight rates to QC fees.
There certainly was a time many years ago at how blind I really was.
The more contractors know, the more it jeopardizes rates that carriers have to pay out.

Not sure I need the Mr title, but thanks from 30,000 feet. I think Phil is just trying to report what he saw and bring more perspective. Even if only a small percentage read, care or appreciate the goal is to provide content that appeals to many.

It was a good conference. A number of good speakers and spending time with partner carriers is always of value. Talking with others is always a great learning tool.

Brad Jacobs provided a interesting history of himself and his goals for XPO. For those that had read up on him and the acquisition it was just as expected.

I personally think he will be very successful but we will see little change in the landscape of the expedite industry.

Its a title well deserved. We have seen over the last year attempts by company owners to come on and explain away many things that they claim are "industry standards". They range from the justification of paying late all the way to foolish fees and rates that they themselves can't seem to explain. They know who they are and rarely do I cut them any slack.
I have little tolerance for the "gamers"
Many appreciate what you bring to them forum.

Thanks Dave. I was a fleet owner so I see the other side if the coin a bit differently. It is a great site. Especially for those who listen as well as post.

Based on his past record, I don't see Jacobs paying much attention to Expedite other than throwing it a bone once in a while.

In my opinion, the freight forwarding and logistics are what he will build on. He now has all of E1's rights and doesn't have to start from scratch to get them.

Re: Selectus Conference; Who's Attending?

I'm so happy Phil attended the right conference. Last year when Sylectus was sold he confused that company with Selectus, a portrait company. http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/general-expediter-forum/46207-sylectus-sold.html Perhaps I confused things for him. At any rate, it appears Selectus is no longer in business. I can find nothing on the internet and their website no longer exists.

In answer to the title of this thread; no I will not be attending the conference, maybe next year. Will they be giving away free portraits?

Could be a interesting article if he writes about the portrait company.

You pointed that out then and I missed it. My bad.

It's Sylectus.

I made the same spelling mistake this year before attending the conference and that error shows up in the title of this thread. I corrected the mistake everywhere else in the thread that I made it but my user rights do not allow me to correct the thread title. Could someone with the power to do so please correct my spelling error in the title of this thread? Thank you.

Again, it's Sylectus.
