switching carriers?????????

I was just wondering what is going on at P2......there seems to be an INCREASE of trucks coming from there and going to EXPRESS-1....

anybody got any ideas as to what is happening?????????

They're not only landing at E-1. We have our fair share of former P2 people as well.

I would think, unless your unhappy there, that you would stay for the ride, I mean who knows it could get better, or stay the same, why in the world change before the axe,oooops sales hammer hit the counter?

Not seeing a big rush for the door. Don't see the point until you see who is buying them and what they come with. That would determine from my prospective what changes may or may not be needed. Some did go to E-1 in a rush, but that makes little sense since E-1 is one of the people bidding on Panther. Just have to see how it all plays out.

I remember a straight truck team who left Panther because they finally had enough. They came to Con-Way NOW. Went through orientation on Monday and Tuesday, ran a couple of loads, then Saturday morning were informed via the QC that they were suddenly leased on to Panther again.

If Panther does get sold I don't think it would be to an expedite company. It makes no sense for a expedite carrier to buy Panther at this point in the game. Some say Express1 is going to buy Panther which I feel would be risky for a man that just paid $150 million for Express1. The thought sounds good, but I doubt he has the money to spend another $150 million that soon. Lets see how things play out in the next few months. I know we aren't moving trucks to another carrier, unless someone offers a sign on bonus we can't refuse. The cost of moving a truck from one carrier to another is more than what some people thinks. It can cost you two weeks of downtime if your drivers can't get into class ASAP.

Since I have owned my own, (1985), I have only been leased to 3 carriers ... Roberts in the begining, Hot Shot Express in the middle and Landstar at the end ... there are valid reasons to change carriers, but make sure they are the correct reasons ... no "feel good" decisions ...

Panther bought Conway Now few years ago, so why not to be bought by another expediting co.?

Express1 doesn't have the money to buy Panther Expedited at this time without getting a loan for someone with deep pockets. You will find out my words are true when it happens withing the next 180 days.

I really don't care who's gonna buy Panther, I don't work for P2 nor E-1... a guy from P2 told me that E-1 wants to buy 'em, that's all.

Davekc would have to be the boss as he has a few more years on me and I was always told to respect my elders.

Actually XPO has more cash than ABF currently, but both have enough to make this purchase happen. Plus you have a few venture capital firms that were looking at it. My gut is leaning towards ABF buying it, but I am not sure that will sit well with their union. IMHO.
