Stuck in Miami

If you find yourself stuck in the Miami area, the Miccosukee Resort and Casino has truck parking in the back of the lot.
The casino is located at the corner of US-41 and FL-997. We tried the buffet yesterday, the price was about 8.00 including drink and it was wonderful! The people have been very friendly, and they have security patrolling the lot.

It sure beats the Dade Corners TS across the street that charges 15.00 to park.

If I remember correctly, that place is nastier than most truk stops. Unless things have changed you don't wanna be there evenings on weekends, cause you'll not be able to git out if you need to.

Col, if you're talking about the Casino it's now a resort, so it's huge. There is plenty of room to move around now.
If you mean the truck stop, you're right. It's small, and there isn't much moving around room.

Ahh, that is good. The casino wuz the real pits a year or so ago. Guess they've made good enough to expand some.

We will never go back to that one, they are rude there. But, last time we were there was over a year ago, so next time will go to the casino. Thanks for the heads up on the casino.

We often stay at Mrs. Layoutshooter's mom's place. If she is out of town we go fishing. We go to either the Seminole Travel Center or a free spot we know across the road. Seminole is located on the East side of US27 where it crosses Griffen road. They do charge to park but it is guarded. They have an outdoor Tiki hut type bar that serves food and several kinds of "adult beverages" It is a favorite stop for locals. They were working on the showers there the last time we were there and at that time they were not working. That was 7 months ago. If you cross 27 on Griffin you will head into the Holiday Fish Camp. We don't cross the bridge into the camp but park on the right side just before the bridge. The are plenty of fish in the cannals around that area. Pea**** and large mouth bass, oscars, brim, catfish and the odd tarpon or two. We walk into the Camp and use thier showers. If you have shore power you can park in the camp ground. They have airboat rides and boat/motor rentals. They have food, bait, tackle and fishing liciences.

Shooter thanks for the information. It's nice to have details on places that are new to us.

We talked to security tonight, there is no problem parking here but they will take down your license plate number. They have, in the past, had drivers leave their trucks for weeks and they can't have that. Really nice people here!!

Heck it could take weeks to find that 1 load paying enough to get you out of FL lol

Until now, we've never had a problem getting out of FL. Did I mention we're STILL in FL? The weather has been great, but it's warming back up. I wonder if a dispatch dance would help our cause? Might have to start calling the relatives to see if they need anything delivered. LOL

Are you stuck or are you Stuck?

I would figure that you would use the power of the Panther and find something to pay for your fuel out of there to somewhere better, even Orlando or Ocala if not Atlanta.

I figure if I have something to Miami, I am going to sit long enough to reset my hours and get out of there.

The "power" seems to be running on low battery or something this week. We did get a paid move to Tampa, but...so far nothing. Like I said before, we've always had good luck getting back out of FL, I guess it's our turn to sit.

Right now you have to think very nontraditional. Most folks are too scared to leave the "safe zone" of the midwest, and therefore are sitting. Not so many trucks in FL right now. Just remember that it is a holiday weekend. Very possible to get a inbond freight rescue out of MIA or FLL that sat in customs longer than expected.
