Esp from a saftey point of veiw. For sure if the truck was idling I would knock first before entering the under carriage. Not a smart idea to go under there..

Not idling. I would let them know so I would not get thumped too.

I claim advantage. My van is too low to scramble under easily (it can be done, but you really have to want to) and besides, my basic operating principle concerning truck stops-- any of them-- is "get in fast, do what you have to do, get out fast". It's very rare indeed that I'll spend much time at a truck-stop, everything considered.

When I do stop to sleep at one, it'll be a Flying J or one of the larger Loves--- they're the only ones that have enough space to allow for vans to spend much time there. The Pilots are almost universally tight for van parking, encouraging get in/get out business, and as for TA/Petro-- I swore off ever setting foot in those since the "Reward Yourself" thread several months back.

About the guy under your truck: I reckon, from the "sound" of it, you did the right things. Check the rig to make sure everything's right with it, report suspicious activity to the authorities and so on.

One possibility is that he was hiding from someone else; ducked under your truck quick so as to not be seen.

He was probably a drug trafficker that was taping a load of coke to the underside of your truck somewhere. This after your dispatcher tipped him off that your next load will be crossing the border. Once you get to the consignee, another guy will crawl under your truck to remove it and then retape a load of B.C bud to come back with. How does it feel to be an unwilling drug mule? LOL!

Always check under your truck before crossing the border and keep an eye out for anyone following you once you have crossed over. Paranoia? Maybe,....maybe not.

What load?

We will find out when I go in for an oil change in the morning.

It was just a generalized remark designed to get people thinking about things like that which can and do in fact happen. It has been known to have happened before.

I forgot some "smiley faces", after the "what load" part! Meaning I DON'T have a load yet! I understood what you were after.

Good thoughts.
