straight truck income

Is it safe to say that an owner of a D unit straight truck with contracted drivers (team) and a 60 driver/40 owner split will net around $25,000 per year after expenses? I have heard that with a single driver an owner will be lucky to break even, is that true? Any help would be appreciated.

Go to General Forum, read RaceMans post below his is my respond. You will be lucky at best to break even and will probably loose $ if there is a payment involved.

Save yourself the aggrivation, sell the truck. I will not deny I am in the black, its alot of responsibility, book keeping, etc...

If you always have teams running the truck and If they maintain an 80% availability rate and If the truck is reliable and has no major repairs and If the truck payment is low/zero and If the team runs smart to stay in good zones 9x% of the time and If Murphy doesn't like you excessively then I'd say yes you could net a couple grand a month after expenses but note there are a lot of Ifs in there. If the truck winds up running with a solo operator then Bp's observations will be pretty accurate and it will buy you a nice steak dinner every month or you'll owe the truck a nice steak dinner every month; in other words pretty much break even.
