Straight Truck Idea??

I'm not interested in a tiny cabover like that. Drove one of those many years ago- about 14 years ago- and told myself I'd better not go back unless I wanted a kidney transplant. They're great for tight spots, look kinda neat, but they're not very comfy to roll in for a few hundred miles at a time. then multiply that by 5 or 7 days a week. I don't think so.

Thanks though. I'm looking to transform a Class 8 Cabover into a straight truck.
Or find myself a cheap moving van straight truck and transform it into a working freight truck.

That's a lot closer to what I'm envisioning. I'd be curious to know the bumper to bumper length on that rig.... I like it- though I'd remove the middle axle to replace it with a lighter liftable axle with 2 tires instead of 4. Move the tool box to the front, and install a lift gate. If there was room I'd put a shower bunk on it somehow- in some form or another. Thanks for the pic.

That's our st trk/red COE. With a 5th wheel it did a decent job pulling an oversize load Miami to Cleveland @ 96,000# . I yanked the 5th wheel off and bolted the box on.Well under 40' with 108" of combined sleeper space. NTC 370/435 w 10 spd 3.55 rears. Staying in the mid 10's mpg with a high of 11.2. Governed at 62 mpg. Sold my 2004 egr trk to buy this 2001 to increase my dependability.Wish I could buy new/dependable Pete or KW COE. As plated, can haul 19,000#

Someone asked about the size of our sleeper. It's a 66" ICT .We sleep in the 34" factory slpr. The rear wall is cut-out from about the bottom of mattress to curve of roof. 55" wide. You roll into the "downstairs" and stand between the refrig and dresser/microwave/tv to get dressed. To the rear is a dinette. We leave it up all the time. Has proheat heater hidden in toolbox. I ran solo, then trained my sister. She put the dinette down and had the downstairs bedroom.Truly the only 2 bedroom Pete in the fleet. My wife joined me and says the only way I can buy a new trk is to buy a new COE. Waiting for one to come from overseas, or I'll retire. Yes ,it's cozy, but works well for us !
