Straight Truck Home Delivery Contractor for a retailer

Hello everyone I am kinda of new here. I have a small business out of the Dallas area that has been spending most of my time with the air freight industry doing the local pickup and deliveries. However I have recently been looking into the home delivery market working for places that have accounts with places like Best Buy and Ikea.

Well I have one that is ready to roll asap except they want me to bid on per stop. So they pay a flat rate plus some extras if anything other than normal pops up per drop. They have 5 different zones based on distance. So my question to you guys if any of you have done any of this is what is the going rate? I have 5 companies in this area right now looking for teams to work for them boasting that you can do over 140k per truck annually.

Anyway if any of you have any idea what kinda of rates you would get inside lets say 40 miles from the warehouse on what they are saying is about 15 drops a day. Thanks in advance for your time.

Jason: you have the right idea, but the wrong target. Expediters don't deal with retail deliveries, per se, and can't offer guidance on what you might bid for providing that service.
I'd suggest you check out the competition, and see if you can improve on what they're offering, either with more efficiency, better service, or both. Good luck!

$35.89 a stop would get you around 140k per yr 5 day work weeks avg of 15 stops per day

that will only give you around 2700 per week not to bad for a one man band that gets to be home every night. But if your hiring drivers paying for fuel, insurance and repair you would need to put that on top so about another $14.66 per stop so you might as well make it an even $50 per stop

Those deals are not good they will want a 2 man team because you going to be dragging appliances into houses and hauling away the old ones and all the packing materials
Think stairs lots of them better read the fine print!! I've inquired just to see what's going on and. Was surprised at how they offered such low pay!
