Put on two different drivers whom both did simiar things, one the advance on his fuel card suposely did not work, gave another to do run, other advanced disappeared. did background on both. Well 1st was Maurice of michigan City het got in dispute with dispacher for being late on 600 mile run and had 17 hours to do it, wan in GA , he threaten to leave my van there, gave him $150 to bring it to me. all evening he is close, then finally no answer got police involved it was abanoned in Michigan City, in in a project unlocked, 2nd Carlton , (South Bend,IN) did run, next morning said van broke down, turm out it was a fraud attemp, he too was supposed to bring van here and I was going to put him on bus back to south Bend, well 12 hours later he said he close then 20 miles got police involved the van was in Elkhart Truck Stop unlocked. Both people left vans bone dry. Well never again advance unless under a confirm load and not before 1st is dome.

Most people who drive the vans for owners are broke. I had to advance one of my van drivers money for the first two weeks. But the guy is a really good and dependable driver. I knew right away that he could be trusted and I paid him for every load he ran 2 weeks before I got paid for the loads. I have another driver in my other van and she has a really good credit card and she ran off of that for the first week. I have already paid her for a couple small runs and a 1900 miler - a few days before I got paid for them. It's hard t find good drivers but I run my drivers through a background check before I hire them and it seems to work out jist fine. I'm sorry for your misfortune with drivers! I hope you find some better ones in the future.

Bliz, maybe you should explain how you do background checks and what they cost. It seems the people that aren't doing checks need to consider doing them.
