Add to that a report on Channel 2 in Detroit this morning states that Michigan LEADS the nation for people LEAVING the state for other areas in the country. LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan's already high unemployment rate jumped 1.1 percent in June, hitting 15.2 percent.
State officials say the latest jobless rate was 7.1 percentage points above the state's June 2008 rate of 8.1 percent.

Rick Waclawek of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives said Wednesday that "a large drop in manufacturing jobs" caused by restructuring in the auto industry accounted for much of the rise.
General Motors and Chrysler shed jobs as they went through bankruptcy.

The national unemployment rate in June was 9.5 percent

Plenty more folks would move if they had any kind of hope of being able to sell their house. The Free Press had an article about the murder rate in Detroit. More murders here than in NYC---and NYC has at least 8 times more people.

Michigan taxes and high wages from the UAW...the fact automakers moved to Mexico and abroad to escape those taxes and the union....I see it more of a Michigan cancer that has spread to other states. And greedy company execs who ignored what customers wanted.

Do not forget the Teamsters and the Steel Workers. This has been going on here for a LONG LONG time. We have become the "Poster State" for Barry's entitlement sociaty. What you see here is what you will get everywhere. This is NO LONGER a good place to live. If Barry gets his way, neither will the rest of the country. :(

Greg, I won't leave while my dad is alive. Who knows what after that. I could NOT sell my house now and even if I did I could NOT pay off the note. So much for doing it right. HEY!! Not only can I NOT afford my OWN house but I get to pay for an $8000 tax break for first time home buyers!! What a bargin!! I remember the first time home buyer break I got when I bought my first home in 1982. I got my mortgage a 1 1/2 point BELOW market at the time. I did a VA loan and the interest rate was ONLY 16 1/2% !!!! Now I get to pay for others to get low rates!! I am just SOOOOOOOOOO lucky! :eek:
