Squalid conditions for wounded vets

I don't think anyone has said the problems at Walter Reed are entirely Bush's fault - clearly, they have been there for a long time. But President Bush is in charge now, and that's where the buck has to stop, no? Seems to me that whatever the current administration is accused of mismanaging, the rebuttal always takes the form of pointing out what the previous administration is or was guilty of. Maybe in football the best defense is a good offense, but in government, we need leaders who can get the problems resolved, no matter whose fault it is. Or was.

Some of the problems at Walter Reed and other V.A. hospitals may be due to downsizing of the military during the 1990's. During times of peace there are fewer wounded and injured soldiers. Some V.A. hospitals may have mothballed certain units due to lack of demand. With the war in Iraq these hopitals are now operating at near capicity.

But I believe the root of the problem lies within the inefficiency of the federal bureaucracy. I find it ironic that some of the politicians that are in an uproar over the conditions at Walter Reed are the same ones pushing for national health care.

Cal... you, for one, shouldn't be talking about seeing the forest thru the trees. You live in that liberal bubble called California, where ppl like you eat, drink, breathe, and dream the crap they call the liberal agenda. Sometimes I wonder if ppl out there would know common sense if it bit em on the arse!

Answer me this, if you can... If Hillary is the smartest woman in politics, how could she have been duped into agreeing for the war by someone so supposedly dumb as W? What does that say for the rest of them who were duped?

Answer is, they were voting the way the political tide was flowing. And now that the media has made this out to be a losing venture, they want to back out of their vote. What kind of kindergarten :censoredsign: is that? Hey everybody... look... the Dems and some Republicans are taking their balls(votes) and going home!

I heard Howie "YEAHHHH" Dean today carving the pres a new one. Then he has the nerve to say the pres needs to keep the politics out of this. I'm no fan of W, but I wanted to kick Dean SQUARE IN THE JIMMY! You know what they say about fooling some of the ppl all of the time, I guess.

Nothing has convinced me you aren't some of the ppl.

Hi

Actually the Rebublicans have been in power more in the last 30 years.Reagan,Bush, and Bush vs Carter, and Clinton.

I think its interesting that this took so long to come to light and that it is such a hot issue. At least these soldiers didn't have to pay for their hospitalization where as the first injured soldeirs from Iraq did.Just think with a universal health care program they could of been treated at any hospital they choose (like one closer to home where freinds and family wouldn't have to make major travel plans just to visit them).Heck if we can provide free health care to Contra soldiers during the Iran-Contra affair why can't we provide it to citizens.

The way I see it somebody needs to completely redo all of this countries budgets. If our tax dollars went to what they were originally designated to go too we probably wouldn't have a deficit.

Bryan,
I see your point but you don't realize that with general socialized healthcare (which is the proper term) also comes with it the bureaucracy that will limit our ability to get the proper care in the long run. Under Hillary Care just the idea of you paying for anything was to be restricted if not made illegal - Imagine that?

Let me put it to you another way, choice will most definitely go away which means your ability to seek out and select doctors who you feel comfortable with or know how to treat your problems to your standards will no longer be an option for you. Just imagine going to an OBGYN and not having a choice in the doctor you see which you may end up getting some old man who seems not to care about you but to fill his quota to get paid. Do you feel that this is ok? I hope not. Can you imagine production line healthcare? Think it is bad now, just wait.

The other thing is with this the quality of care will surly slide downward to the point that we will face what other countries have been facing, going somewhere else (maybe Mexico where all the American doctors will flee to if this happens) for our care.

Well that is sort of off topic, I still blame the congress who actually holds the purse strings.
