2006. less finicky on fuel. greater weight capacity. easier access to stuff under the hood. newer models have more room for cargo and people space. more things to go wrong.
2018 model will be made exclusively in germany. the vehicle will automatically route itself to the nearest dealership (500 miles away) every 10,000 miles for routine service. the $200 fuel filter will be built into the engine and will only be able to be serviced at the 10,000 mile service by an authorized dealership. it will be a smart filter, and the ecm will only recognize and mate to an authorized mercedes filter. if the ecm senses that it is not in a dealership by 10,000 miles, it will self destruct. there will be a countdown timer on the dash that counts down the 10,000 miles to service, and the mileage counter will be the default view of the odometer display. the vehicle will be rated for 1000 lbs of cargo, but it will be smarter and more fuel efficient than anything out there.
by 2018 the sprinter will still be the only north american cargo van with a 14 foot cargo bed.
