I would like to hear opinions on purchasing either a cv or sprinter. And why. I want a sprinter for comfort but at twice the price of cv not sure if the comfort is worth it.

you'd best check the pricing again....you could have gotten a 2012 sprinter for 31,999...end of year clearance...there are deals around the country...I've read your posts..you couldn't handle a Sprinter....too green, too American....
Do a search on these forums.... and the biggest reason in today's world is many carriers and shippers ask for Sprinter type vehicles. Mostly for capacity.

You believe you're opinion is correct and I believe mine to be so let's agree to disagree. As for maintaining a vehicle I'm pretty sure I can handle it. People like you that attempt to talk down to people they've never met are laughable. As I said, I'm making a decent living and I don't own my own van yet so I must be doing something right . It's amusing to me how you use these forums as a way to feel better about your miserable life. I bet you were lucky to get 1000 miles per week. You post all the time but never have anything of significance to say.You're a moderator on here so why don't you follow your own ns rules. If you don't have anything constructive to say don't say anything. He said you were too green (in this business) and you are TOO American (the Sprinter is most definitely NOT American). You have to really and truly think like a European when it comes to a Sprinter, and that's on top of the special considerations that needs to be done with a high mileage per year vehicle. Many things that are done every 2 or 3 years with a normal vehicle are done far more often with an expediting vehicle. Those who are green don't have that mindset until they've had a couple of years in this business. It's better to cut your trial and error teeth with a cheaper cargo van than it is to make seriously high dollar mistakes with a Sprinter. Frankly, someone this green who already has the whole broker thing figured out, in light of being informed differently, and sticking with what they think is right, isn't someone who is likely to be able to adjust and do what it takes to maintain a high maintenance vehicle like a Sprinter. It's hard enough just learning this business without having to take on the added task of learning how to properly maintain a Sprinter. That's why most of us would not recommend a Sprinter to someone new to the business. There are plenty of expediters, many of them right here on EO who will tell you that a Sprinter is a piece of crap and they had nothing but problems with theirs. Well, they didn't have problems with theirs because a Sprinter is a piece of crap (although the jury is still out on the DPF Sprinters).

The biggest reason I've thought about sprinter is that companies are wanting them more so than cv. Other than that as you said, so much easier and less expensive to maintain and repair. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.Sprinter maintenance is in a world of its own. It seems to involve, amongst other things, lighting candles on each side of the vehicle, walking backwards away from the van reverently and singing "How great thou art" while your wife plays softly on the organ. Give an American van an oil change and it's happy. The Sprinters are fuss-budgets.
Further: Apax, you've already had plenty to say about the rates. At the outfit I drive for, the rate per mile is the same whether you're driving a standard Chevy or Ford CV or a Sprinter. Right now, the rate I'm being paid is 1.07 per loaded mile. Gasoline is a bit more expensive (because you burn so much more of it) but maintenance of a Chevy is considerably cheaper-- and easier to get if you break down in the backwoods somewhere. I can replace the entire drivetrain-- engine, transmission and probably differential-- for less than the engine alone would cost in a Sprinter. Sprinters are for people with rich daddies, if what I've seen is any indication.

Why not calm down a bit there, Cupcake. You seem to over react to people having a different opinion than you. Take what someone has to say and learn from it. It might be something that you completely disagree with but that doesn't make it less valid than your opinion and you might get a chance .
