Sprinter Towing Capacity

Could I tow a 8 to 13 thousand pound trailer behind any configuration of one of these Sprinter models?
I am thinking about towing a large boat, but it might also make sense commercially if you can back a trailer.

For the 06 and earlier 2500 (4 wheeler) and 3500 (6 wheeler) model Sprinters, max towing capacity is 5000 pounds. For the 07 model 2500, it's still 5000 pounds. For the 07 model 3500 it's 7500 pounds.

I have a 2006 Sprinter 2500 and a 2005 Dodge RAM 3500 SRW 6-speed with a Cummins in it. I've towed a trailer with a Kubota mini-excavator on it that weighed around 12K total, for trailer and mini-ex.

There's NO WAY I would ever try and tow anything as heavy as you are talking about with a Sprinter - even an 07 3500 would be marginal in my estimation if it's using the same transmission as the other models (ie. 2500.)

Price the cost of a replacement transmission before you entertain the idea further.
