I am running a cargo van currently, but do mostly out and back runs. Have been thinking about going OTR and switching to a different can. My question is, what would I be better off running(load pay, cost to run, comfort, practicality)? I talked to a driver that has a cube van, and he said he does very well, plus has a decent area for resting. My current van only holds 2 pallets, and I would have to be limited on what all I could have amentity wise. Sprinters are nice, but are extremely expensive when they go down. So, any advice on which way to go?

Can you get a CDL? If so, do so and do this in a straight truck. There's too many vans out here.

I can get a CDL and thought about that route as well, but am afraid the repairs, logbook, upkeep would make van driving the better route. Thoughts?

Remember just because it fits don't make it legal! Those cubes don't have a big payload cause of the box weight in itself

I've been running sprinter van for over 10 years at ceva,
Works great
Today doing line haul , have done 3 stop's one more to due
350 miles, hand off load all stops
Extra money on all stops
Before 0800, d time, last stop after 1700 extra money for that
Plus no log book or scales to cross
That's why I love a sprinter
And it's gross weight is 9,999
Plus sale them, have some great deals going on to

A cube van will give you more room in the back, but it'll drain your wallet when it's about fuel. Also you might be pulled over pretty often since some cube van drivers are hauling heavier freight that they were supposed to...
