Speedco Oil Change

The Warranty Division at Speedco quotes a straight truck oil change to be as follows:

$99.95 - $109.95
up to 3 filters
up to 24 qts of oil
$2.25 per qt after 24 qts

If you have been charged anything other than this price (and I'll bet you have) you may want to notify someone at 765-492-7119. Have your VIN # ready. When they get tired of the calls, perhaps they will instruct their stores to be more honest with us.

How much have you been charged? Appears the least amount we've paid is $126.96 (out the door) and the most we have been charged is $188.00. That must have included service on the generator as well. But we certainly have not paid the quoted prices you mention

Coco If I remember right the prices you quoted are about right,But If you have a cat engine Its about 149.00 to 169.00 everytime we had ours changed In the speedco's.Petro have always treated us better and had better prices...

Stay tuned, as I have a nasty report coming from one of their locations in Baytown, TX. Try 220.00 on a straight truck with a small CAT.
The corporate office is returning my call tomarrow (l1/20)
They even had the nerve to bill us for more oil than the truck holds.
Stay tuned.

Funny just had a run in at the West Memphis location this afternoon.

Was going to get it done in Laredo, but they didn't have the secondary oil filter. By the time they discovered the filter was not in stock, they had already lubed the chassis. But they sent me on my way with no charge.

When I got to the West Memphis location, I asked for just oil and filters changed, and make sure you have all the filters before starting. The guy checking me in, said MBE900, we always stock them.

To make a long story short, they didn't have the secondary filter and put the old one back on without telling me. I didn't discover it until the told me they we're giving me a $15 discount on $190 for not changing it.

As far as I'm concerned it's a wasted oil change and never would have been done if I knew they could not change all the filters.

I left paying $119 including $20 discount and feeling they just don't give a crap.

I'll be calling corporate tomorrow morning.

PS,

Just checked my Quick Books, I've paid a low of 120.29 to a high of 197.79 for the same service at Speedco.

We have a MBE280 and they NEVER have the centrifuge oil filter, we carry our own. The price we pay fluctuates too. However, this time we were 20 miles down the road on the way to a pick up before I looked at the invoice. We ended up paying $200.86 on this particular occaision but, that included a gallon of Lucas. That's still too much. If the corporate office is going to implement a pricing structure they also need to enforce it. We need to remind them of their own decisions. I encourage everyone to carry the Phone # with them, inquire of the price BEFORE any service is started and call the number if necessary. Also, if you provide any filters make sure they note that on your invoice. We had a filter come loose and caused a $800 breakdown. Because there was no indication the filter was touched by Speedco, they deemed themselves innocent of any responsibility. They did give us 5 free oil changes. Fair enough on their part. Dave, I would stay on them until they make things right. The money in your pocket is better than the money in theirs.

Called Speedco Customer Service:

$99.99 for a straight truck PM (includes inspection, lube and 18 qts. of oil)

Additional charges are $2.25 per qt., Enviromental Fee (varies by state) and sales tax.

Customer Service says they charged me for an Express Service on a Class 8 which includes up to 44 qts.

Sending me a Free PM.

Coco, "they are increasingly aware of the problem!" Wow! Wonder when they will DO something about it? Ha! We are now ready for an oil change and we were looking for a Speedco since we had a bad experience at a TA oil change. Guess the bottom line is watch what they do and document EVERYTHING! Thanks for the heads up!!!

I have had these monkeys ruin a couple of drain plugs on my MBE 900.
It takes a 10mm allen wrench.Until I caught on to what is going on,they would stick a SAE(US)Allen in there and do the damage. They would then claim that was the way they found it.

Now I carry my own wrench and insist they use it.I also carry all filters or those locations who do not have them in stock.

Update on Baytown, TX location. They took care of the bill and are sending a certificate for $100 on the next one.
Additionally on straight trucks, their oil is billed at $2.25 per qt as of today for amounts exceeding 18 qts of oil.
Base price is 99.00
Our 220 bill should have been $165. We have an additional upcharge because we use Lucas and CAT filters.
Lucas is not included in the 165 price as they ran out.
Apparently they have had some issues with this location and should have it taken care of within the next week.

Hey Dave,
I had the same problem in San Antonio. I had the service there twice in a row. The first time they handed me a bill for 223.00. I ask to see the bill and they had charged me for a tractor trailer rate instead of straight truck. (why there is a difference I don't know)I was there about a month later and they did the same thing. They will try and sneak it past the driver if they can. I always look at my bill to see what they have done, because they seem to screw it up every time. And always make sure you specify exactly what you want done, otherwise they will do the works and it will cost you.

How Cheap is Cheap

Well Cheap says alot to me about a person.

Cheap tells me that person will cut cornors

Cheap tells me maintanace goes un done.

Speedco hmm let me ask you

1. Brakes checked and set? Nope

I go for the Full PM Yupper.

Cheap is for Cheap.

The FUll PM

I enjoy the piece of mind from knowing my Tractor trailer is in tip top condition along with the clutch getting properly adjusted
2 1/2 inches of toe play. To handle all that Power

And along with the oil change I have my Bakes checked and set with all the trimmings.

Somtimes ya need the stopping power. HG LOL

Dave that one in Baytown is a Joke. They took 3 1/2 hrs to change the oil in a brand new truck with they 1st open in Baytown, TX and even left a wrench on top of the motor that fell off and could have went into the fan. Speed Co is a rip off if you ask me. We took one into Seville and they never have the right filters for an M2 and the tried to charge 199.00 for a oil change. Your better off going to the Petro to get an Oil change.

We do like the Petros but all too often we are doing oil changes in the middle of runs, and can't wait extended periods of time for service. To be fair, short of a couple of instances, our service at speedco has been good.
In this case, they did make good on their errors. We will watch closely and see how they do.

We have always had a Good trip thur speedco, But I always walk all over at ones I have not been to before and ask lots of questions. How much for this and that, and why are you doing that.

Most of the kids there are stright out of a tech school and dont know why they are doing it either, and the girl doing the billing does not what a stright truck anyways.

Bottom line I feel they give a good service for the price and will take care of anything that comes up. Just ask them

The worst rip off we have ever had on an oil change was at the Waterloo Petro. They were not in the least interested in making things right.

However, at Speedco, if you take the right action they will work with you. Another case in point:

In Girard OH we got an oil change and supplied the centrifugical filter (as always) later in Chicago the filter came loose and we broke down with a load on our truck. After the rescue, tow bill, hotel, rental car etc we were out about $600.00. But we had no prof Speedco put the filter on the truck as there was no charge on our invoice. i.e. make sure they make a note on your invoice if you supply anything and pay for their labor.

To make a long story short, Speedco gave us 5 $125.00 gift certificates to cover our costs. Legally we could not prove they were at fault but seeing our record of service with them, they gave us the benefit of the doubt and kept a customer.

We also get our brakes checked and adjusted on a regular basis, usually at a T/A ($18) along with the visual inspections we do ourselves.

We are not cheap, we just like the fast service Speedco gives. We pull in, get what we need and leave.

Hey COCO

Im not worried you go ahead do your pm at the place you like.

I know when I get a full pm and I watch them do the job vice
sitting in the cafee drinking coffee. I Know that I get quality work done, and the job is done right.

Ya see The Truck and Trailer Im responsible for it so I make sure its done right. They are my Bread and Butter. Most drivers dont care and they get ripped off when their back is turned. I wont I stay with the Equipment till done.

Have a Safe One

Just had an oil change done in ElPaso and thought we would give you and update on what we were told.
First there is going to be an additional $15.00 charge for all trucks due to the change in the quality of oil. Plus they have changed their policy and are now going to charge straight trucks with certain size motors, the same as a big truck. But in the case of the MBE900 series, they are not supplying the centrifical oil filter (forgive me if the spelling is off) - which is the most expensive of all the filters.
Spoke with customer service, they are supposed to be trying to get and supply the filter but don't know for sure - could just be the run around.
We are hoping that all expediters that use SpeedCo will call the following number: 765-492-5268 and speak to Todd in customer service about straight trucks being charged the same rate as a big truck. I think that we, as expediter's, give SpeedCo a tremendous amount of business and should speak up before it is too late.
