For all of you experienced expediters - what items, accessories, or specifications did you forget to spec, or was your vehicle not equipped with, that you wish you now had?

Thanks,

A 30' box! LOL

We didn't spec the truck out we're driving, just driving what's available. However, if we were to spec this truck out, first thing would be a lower torque rear-end. Second would be an automatic transmission. Drop axel would be perfect for this truck, as would a liftgate. Though I don't know if I'd go with the liftgate for reasons such as the customer assuming they get use out of it for nothing. Last thing, a standup cab. It's a pain in the arse to be 6'4 and have to bend down to get into the sleeper.

A window that will open and has a screen in it is AWESOME in a sleeper. If you get one on each side of your bunk (head / foot) you can get a cool breeze blowing across you to sleep (provided it's not 90 degrees plus outside).

You can sleep like a baby without idling OR running a generator. You can just lay there and imagine yourself in a hammock down by the lake. Ahhhhh.....

Downfall - reefer trucks parked in your imaginary lake. Grrrrr

One more thing to add to the list is insulation!! We don't have it and sure wish we did. You cannot run without a generator. We are also in the process of getting our transmission changed from a 5 speed to a 6 speed. Hope that gets us better fuel mileage. On the 120 gallon dual tanks you better make sure they are hung right or you will be over weight on the steers. We have a wood floor Bob installed in the sleeper and that is sure a lot easier to clean. One more thing you can never have enough of is storage space!!

This is going to end up as a great list!!
