South Dakota Campground

We are so thrilled to finally find a campground that welcomes us in the truck! It is near Rapid City, SD and the campground is the TeePee. It is a family owned campground with nice clean rest rooms, showers and a laundry room. They are right next door to Ft Hayes (where Dances With Wolves was filmed).

Ft Hayes has a great bus tour of Mt Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. The tour includes breakfast, the tour, supper and a variety show. Then we just walked next door to our campground. What a perfect place to relax!

Next time you are near South Dakota keep this place in mind. We have really enjoyed our time here. One of the other campers took us on a tour of bear country today!

Just came back from my first work-out after the surgery.
Hope to get back in shape soon.
its nice to burn some sweat again.
about 2 mil. of old OH concrete, a filthy side walks ,lots of shoppers traffic , abounded parking lots , and plenty of police and security to choose from.
Don't know the Film they shoot here , its probably more in the nature of COPS or something...

India we were at the Rapid City J on Wednesday afternoon and got a load out on Thursday morning early. We had talked about renting a car and heading for Rushmore before we got the load. Do you have an address or link for this campground? Sounds like a wonderful time!!! Thank you for sharing :)

We are on our way to try this place out and I hope to be able to see Mount Rushmore for the first time. Bob being from South Dakota is not as excited as I am. Will let you know how it goes.

We really lucked out this past weekend. We arrived at the campground on Saturday and the wind was blowing like crazy. We took that time to get all our laundry done at the very clean and cheap facilities at the campground. The next morning we ate breakfast at Fort Hays and then started our tour. All I can say is it was worth every penny we spent and more. The tour is awesome as you do not have to drive and the bus drivers know a lot about the local history. He pointed out so many things we would have missed without his guidance. He was also a riot so that was great. We went places I would not drive our pickup and he took that darn old Greyhound Bus and he has us in stitches with his driving. I did pity the campers and other cars on the road. At one point in one of the tunnels he acted as if he was stuck and all we could see at the other end of the tunnel was all these tourists taking our picture. No way could you have ever opened the door on the bus it was so tight. Then we get out of the tunnel and he opens his window and asks a few of the bi standers if they could help him as he was lost and looking for Mount Rushmore! They just gave him a dumbfounded look which made us laugh all the more. We were exhausted by the end of the day and we will probably never forget this weekend. Thanks to India and Frank for posting this adventure!
