Rate= give the load a price tag....I think that says it

They invoke paragraph 115 part A....

Company reserves right to terminate this contract without notice.

Also I've seen them terminate for refusing loads...

Dave the old M/O= Manager Override...a manager will re-rate the load after dispacth gave you the offer bout day or 2 AFTER load is run ...problem is if you don't check back with them the damage is done...

Jim...they will, have done so and will again....If you rock the boat you will be starved out or outright terminated.

Don't laugh Jim...we got a sign-up bonus and our first payment they deducted 33 % of the bonus as we were paid 67%....this should have given me a clue....*L*

Oh well 5 years, they played me, I played them...life goes on.....*L*

Oh man, I hope they don't keep the escrow, but at this point, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. We will have to have a deep look at the contract.
I know I'm going to regret knowing the answer to this, but.. what is a 'chargeback'??????
OVM, are you saying your signing bonus was given to you at the same percentage upon which they pay you? Like.. they deducted their own cut of their own signing bonus offer to YOU???? hahaha! That is hilarious! Thanks for the chuckle, I needed that!
Another bigger player out here is TST.. that is initially who I almost signed with, however recruiting did a good job at Dx (at least one department seems to do what they're supposed to! Would hate to be him afterwards though, having to face the people he persuaded to join them!) Anyway, I haven't necessarily heard all good things about TST, but at this point perhaps they're looking better!.. does anyone have the lowdown on them?

RLent are you happy with Bolt?
Yes - I have found them - or at least everyone there I have dealt with - to be a straight shooters - very professional, down to business, and no foolishness - and nothing I've experienced so far leads me to believe that that will change for the worse.

What did you say to Co.#1 when they asked you to return?
I told them that I was honored that they apparently thought enough of me to drop me an email and ask, giving me first shot before they started looking elsewhere. And that I was always open to considering any possible business opportunity.

I also told them that no, I was not unhappy at Bolt (in response to that specific question), and that Bolt had delivered on what they (the recruiters) told me as far as the numbers go (averages for revenue, paid miles, etc.)

I also asked if they had made any changes to their operation, as far as compensation, and to get backhauls and reduce the unpaid deadhead.

You're right, best not to burn any bridges unless it can't possibly be helped. Will look closely at the contract while we're investigating other options.
Yeah .... no sense making unnecessary enemies.

I'd definitely scope your contract out - but quite frankly I'm not encouraged by what you and OVM have said about them. It's sad that some companies and folks seem to feel that they have to operate in such a manner ..... I can't imagine that doing so could possibly be good for business in the long run.

Funny - they (DM) were actually one of the companies I was considering before I started doing this a year ago.

Not sure if all their branches are run the same way.. OVM?

Personally I would do a risk vs reward analysis of giving the 2 weeks' notice.

How much escrow do they have? Is it worth losing that to start working with someone new 2 weeks earlier?

What are the chances that they will screw you over on escrow and / or pay even if you do work out the 2 weeks?

I found out the hard way when I quit CTX that they will screw you. They sent back my toll receipts with a note that said something like "They were not required to reimburse tolls, they did it only as a courtesy". Had I known that they would not pay I simply would have gone OOS until all my settlements cleared, THEN quit. Lost a couple hundred bucks on that one.

R U an owner operator or do you work for an owner?
If U R an owner operator I'm a bit surprised you can make ends meet with this arrangement?
But if you work for an owner, are you sure the owner is not jerking you around and blaming the carrier?

There had been a few changes in the way they were paying (better pay) - I didn't get all the details but it was described to me as an improvement but nothing earth-shattering.

As far as the backhauls and one-way trips I gathered that this had not changed significantly from when I was there.

Not at all - small company based out of Greensburg, OH - Elite Way Express (SCAC: EWEI)

Having only worked for Landstar, I only know how they do it. Agent calls and offers you load. Discuss All details of load. If I like, they send me QC restating details. I go do load, they pay me the money. Seems to be a pretty simple deal.. I can't imagine working under the system originally explained here

Then again, you probably would've lost quite a bit more by putting yourself oos for a couple weeks.. you never know..

Yes, we are an OO.. and yes, it's been very tough financially with this company.. we are investigating other carriers now, and plan on leaving once husb has his 6 months in.. otherwise, there will be a pile of additional charges.. bright side is that time is coming up very soon.. downside is they'll probably make all kinds of deductions regardless! Live and learn.. learn to investigate more diligently before signing anything!

Sounds wonderful, and as it should be! Any tricks/advice for how to get hired on by Landstar? I've read they are not easy to qualify for? Any idea what their 'real' criteria is (I mean aside from the obvious clean abstract/clean record)? Do you know if they have any Canadians currently? Thanks!

Let me put it another way, I would have quit working for them but not TOLD them until my settlements cleared.

It was quite clear that my toll expenses were not reimbursed soley because I had cancelled my contract with them.

Bottom line, I would not have quit if their work was profitable, this act by them was just "kicking me when I was already down".
