Canada Someone should write a book(let)

that gives correctly filled in examples of all documentation required for Canada. It should also give detailed directions on what lanes to use on the bridges, roadways etc. as well as information on traffic rules unique to Canada. It should include every last item of interest and all information required so someone who never saw a form before or thought about going before could read it and by following the examples have everything correct when they get there. I'd pay for it just as quickly as I'd pay for a driver's handbook on anything else (within reason on $ of course).

What's that internet acronym...ROFLMAO?
You want all that in a booklet?
The Revised Statutes of Canada let alone the Ontario Highway Traffic Act fill libraries!
Canada is a country with a well developed legal jurisprudence.
It isn't the USA but it really isn't too tough to navigate either.
Don't let these things scare you off coming here; lots of drivers cross the border each and every day without being fined or hitting people getting off the streetcar!
If you have any specific questions; please ask away.
Drop me a private email if there is something you need to know quickly.

I don't want all the statutes. I just want sample pages showing each form I would be responsible for filled out correctly in example format. Then I'd substitute my information for what's in the example. As to the other part, I'd just like a page or whatever amount is required saying "if you are crossing at bridge X be sure to be in the far left lane for FAST and the 2nd from right lane for THIS and the far right lane for THAT" and whatever other information is useful in most expeditiously getting across at that particular crossing. Finally, if it is much easier to cross at bridge Y and/or with FAST/PARS/THIS/THAT I'd like to be told cross bridge Y using THIS or bridge K using THAT.

Your carrier should have provided you with examples and instructions on the paperwork. What would be great is having the procedure while at customs the same at every port of entry. And it would be even better if it could be the same going into either country. Just imagine it..., the same manifest for whatever you do...WOW. Oops, sorry, must have dosed off. If you've just started doing this don't worry, it will become second nature before you know it.

I used my company handbook,i must say everything i needed to know was in there.I have learn a few ways to make things good smoother, but the basics are in the handbook you get [major carriers] the other stuff would have been way to much info for me to handle my first few times going across.

The FedEx CC book was and still is very good, I use it to this day for paperwork doubts, even if it's getting obsolete and I haven't ran for them since 2000. Other carriers instructions were very vague.
With PAPS being mandated PARS won't be far behind for being mandatory. If the systems become automated to where they actually work, they should be very simple with no paperwork for the driver to worry about.
Rich was right with Mexico, but for a different reason. PAPS is needed for the Mexican trucks that will be coming into the USA. There would be no way most Mexican drivers would be able to figure out the old standard broker-cus...DHS:D system without extensive training.

Most comapnies have a manual with all that info in it. There was a booklet that I received from my company 3-4 years ago. It had all the ports of enteries listed. IE where to access Customs Primary and where the brokers were. As well it had phone number. It had general info on Pars etc. Unfortunately it's out of day. ;-)
