Danny D;

Thanks for the compliment and the recommendation. Chris, Dave and I appreciate it very much.

The numbers I posted were run directly from a Sylectus report. Keep in mind that when a company, like Premium Transportation Logistics, says no forced dispatch, it means no forced dispatch. Our numbers reflect the decisions that our owner operators make. If we had the typical 70/70 (70% availablity/70% load acceptance rate) that many of the other companies have, these numbers would surely be higher.

It's what you make of it here.

Hope all is going well for you.

Thanks,

I hate working for carriers thus why I fly my own flag. I also hate hauling loads for Panther and Fedex customs critical. They are slow to pay. A sales rep from panther called my wife last week to haul a car. Pay was nice, just had to wait a really really long time to get the money.

Dont rule out getting your own authority. Its expensive but well worth the expense. Fedex cc and Panther will sometimes use other trucking companies to haul their stuff when they dont have the right sized equipment to haul it.

Panther and Fedex are still paying around 30 days and Panther has an in house quick pay for around 3%. I don't know what you consider a long time, but in today's market, that's quick.

Solos are always going to feel the pinch at a large carrier if things slow down. If you don't do hazmat or go to Canada, you will get pinched a little more in a straight.
I would move to a smaller carrier or know how to book your own freight.
I also wouldn't rule out just getting your own authority. A little more work, but the rewards are there.

Small carriers have less rules in the house, as their have less "kids" to raise. We have slowed down a bit over the last six weeks or so. My solo straights were doing 2200-2500 miles easy, if they were out all 7 days. Now it's more like 1200-1500.
