Solo Drivers.......is it worth it?

For a daycab straight truck? Geez, dude, what do you have in the cab, a 52" plasma tv?

I lease with a maintenance plan, plus my mortgage is only $500 I live in Indiana, our housing prices are not inflated.
Houses start at 20K(I've seen houses in really poor shape for 5K) and 100K will buy you a new home, it does go up from there of course, but that will buy you a mansion and acreage

Yeah, After reading the back logs and crunching the #'s even further, I think my best bet is my original goal of driving for someone for 6 months to a year, then buying a truck w/ cash. That would eliminate most the axienty right off the bat I think. I'm still not seeing the driver section updated as often as it used to be. I'll post another driver ad tonight and hope that someone contacts me. I have plenty of the road time, just not specific to this side of trucking.....maybe that is holding me back, but I understand now a days its hard for people to give someone a chance.

I do just fine as a cv driver, but if I had a st truck and a teammember, my boss has enlighten me that my pay would go thru the roof, but I cannot afford a str trk payment at this time do to some bills i have.....so my cv pay is plenty for me, yes I get sleepy doing solo,,12 to 15 hrs and Im dead tired, but i like the pay.................. I was younger once

You know everyone has a dream to be there own boss.This is good but with being your own boss comes the unforseen.In trucking people come in here worried about the miles, they will run.In Expedite there is lots of down time. The questions should be what is the base plate going to cost me? How much Is Bob tail insurance? Workmans Comp?Self Employment Taxes? Escrows?Do I have money built up to pay my morgage or rent ?Feed Mama and the kids?Do I have money put away for the months when your not doing to great or a breakdown?The list goes on. I am not trying to deter anyone from dreaming.Only trying to make you under stand it takes Money to Make money.

Speaking of Money Dakota.When times get better maybe I need to come to Indiana and buy them cheap homes and flip them.Didnt think those bargains exisited anymore.

Yeah Tn. I think your right.Actually If I were to relocate.I would move to Tenn.Put me some where there in Gods country.Tho its cold there right now too, but at least its not snowing and hitting below zero at night.About now I could see myself going to Breakfast outside Nashville to Loves Cafe (MMMMM) .Eat some them homemade bisquits and gravy.Might even have me an order of grits too. hot Coffee.Now thats living.
