Soapbox Sticky

I lifted the following from a post by 21c and believe it should be a "sticky" for the Soapbox Forum, something everyone should read before posting.

Whether folks are on one side or the other in current politics, spreading false info as truth just encourages others to spread it, believe it, and spout off in negativity, fostering a further and greater misunderstanding of what the real issues are. 21cExp

LOL....some other slime balls....not politicians.....my goodness...just how many slimeballs does the US manufacture?......hope they don't start to export them.....hahahaha

No need for us to export slime balls, every place else manufactures their own. The earth is infested with them and, for the most part, they are in charge of things.

An exercise in futility.:(

Getting to the truth requires time, effort and objectivity.

Many people now believe that they can simply take a shortcut to the truth.

Some believe Rush Limbaugh is truth! Some believe anything on Fox is truth! Some believe anything on MSNBC is truth and so it goes.

Ask most members if they are quoting the truth and they will say yes and believe it, so a sticky or even a banner ain't gonna stop this train!

Totally agree........

What was posted originally to start this discussion is just one persons opinion of what they believe should be posted and what shouldn't be posted. I'm not going to research each and every little thing I run across.......and no one else should have to either just for the sake of possibly not offending a few people on every board.

In other words.....this whole thread is just a moot point.......a matter of no importance.

IMO......Of Course! :p

It does require time, effort and objectivity, and a lot of it. A great deal of time must be invested in the effort to research all sides of an issue. And one must look at all sides objectively, even to the point of looking at their own side as if it was the other side, and accepting the possibility that they are wrong in their beliefs. Accepting that possibility is the first step in objectivity. If you can do that, then it's not an exercise in futility at all. It will, generally, get you to the truth. Be skeptical of everything, especially if it's from the Internet. Don't succumb to being told what to think. So your own research and make up your own mind.

Yes, I know. Sometimes it's not worth the hassle to document claims to back them up. It's easier just to throw things out there.

The problem for most people (me for sure) is coming up with the correct search terms to find real answers.

Romney 2002 Olympics as an example. Google what?

Learning how the search engines think can be the hardest part. But it depends on what answers you are looking for. Simply Googling <Romney Olympics> will get you a great deal. Then you have to sift through the crap to get at the fact. Actually, a very good overview of the facts in what all he did regarding the Olympics can be found on his Wiki page.

NOBODY could have come up with a better reply than this!!!

2 Thumbs Up!

As a prime example of what prompted the original comment, and Moot's suggestion that it be made a sticky [to remind us of what this forum is supposed to be about] you are exactly right.
