Very good!! Now the question that begs to be answered: If a "modern conservative" is not the answer, and a "modern liberal" is not the answer, what is? More government? Less? More freedom? Less? Who gets to determine what is freedom? The government? The "group"? The individual? When does one persons freedom impede another's?

Is there anything worth you giving up any freedoms for, if so, what? Why? Must I, or anyone for that matter, be compelled by the use of force to go along with it?

Think of all the suffering you're setting them up for, though. People who love freedom and think for themselves are going to have a hard time in the coming years.

I read an open letter from a woman dying of cancer to her two daughters. One of them didn't have a political thought in her head. All she cared about was what she was going to wear tomorrow and with whom she was going to hang out. She could have lived in Stalin's Russia without a problem; she would just go along and get along.

The woman was very worried about her other daughter, though. She was independent, a free thinker, didn't like to be told what to think or do. She knew the proper role of government, and that they are Constitutionally limited to a very short list of powers. She knew that this daughter will have a hard time in life because of what's coming down the pike.

If you teach your children to love freedom, they're going to have a tougher time ahead of them. Not saying don't do it; just count the cost.

The opposite of what modern liberals call selfishness is theft, rooted in sloth and envy. Wanting to keep what's morally, legally, and ethically yours isn't selfish.
