blackwood have you been reading this thread at all? It was stated that these are couriers that travel with high value art and museum loads,keeping an eye on the shipments.DD.

Hey guys,

I've been courier for many years and have never heard of a courier going along with OTR guys or expeditors, Whats the point of a courier coming along? I understand Air couriers. I don't understand why somebody would pay both you (the expeditor) and the courier to deliver the same package.

the kind of courier you are and the kind we are talking about are two different people.we are talking about those people that take care of high value art exhibits,they go with the loads many times

I volunteer to try to explain this courier business. There is a solo expedite driver named Ives. He gets dispatched to haul a load of famous lithographs depicting American life in the mid 1800's from one art museum to another. The museum assigns a courier to ride along with Mr. Ives to oversee the complete shipment of the valuable artwork. The team becomes know as Courier and Ives and the lithographs were made by Currier and Ives. Thus we have Courier and Ives and Currier and Ives. And when the D.O.T. stopped them it sounded like a Abbott and Costello routine.
