Find another carrier . Neck size or body mass index do not mandate testing under FMCSR . It's at the discretion of the testing physician . "Currently, the medical certification required for commercial driver license holders includes only one question regarding sleep apnea. Examiners are not required to screen for the condition if drivers respond that they are symptom-free."

You need to be aware initial testing is only the beginning . If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea follow testing is required to document treatment is effective .

Some of this testing and requirements is real easy to impose if your not the one paying for them i feel if the government or company wants then done they should pay for them done

This was addressed in another thread. Call recruiting as they had this for a short period of time and retracted from doing it.

A few carriers , including Prime and Schneider have arrangements with testing companies and provide insurance to pay for it . It does not cover O/O's though .

As Davekc is telling you, call in to the safety department about this matter. This is a sore subject with me in regards to the Doctor that Panther uses.

If you join OOIDA they have a deal set up for the test that is much cheaper. But first do as those who know more said and call Panther.

IF panther is following all the guidelines, then testing is either every year or a follow up on your anniversary date is done by checking the machine's usage.

I, like a lot of others are on a two year cycle for testing, the insurance will pay for it every year BUT the doctors refuse to put me through the test (thank god I don't get much sleep during the test). The company and I have gone rounds on this issue because the machine I use in the truck can not be tracked and they want me to buy another one in order for me to submit a usage report. I feel this is an invasion of my medical privacy by the DOT, the same as monitoring the use of prescription drugs which is the same as medical equipment.

I hope things work out for you and you are found not to have sleep apnea . If you do you will have the expense of followup testing .

Is Sleep Apnea disqualifying?
Drivers should be disqualified until the diagnosis of sleep apnea has been ruled out or has been treated successfully. As a condition of continuing qualification, it is recommended that a CMV driver agree to continue uninterrupted therapy such as CPAP, etc. / monitoring and undergo objective testing as required.
