I have been watching this site for a couple of weeks and it has answered a lot of questions I had. I have an fl70 I am looking to put on with Panther II any input on that company would be helpful. I have also noticed from reading this and some of the other forums that there seems to be a shrinking supply or at the very least a limited supply of equipment and drivers. Is that true or have I misunderstood that. Finally I am getting about 7 1/2 to 8 mpg on my 8.3 cummings how does that stack up with anyone else's experince or who is getting the best milage out of what type of engine and drive trian. Thanks in advance for all your help and information

You are correct about shortage of equipment....at least the good stuff! Your mileage is a bit off, unless you have been idling a lot? There are plenty of guys and gals getting 9 mpg consistantly depending on terrain, speed, load, and of course ideling! The death of all diesel engines. Maybe time to think about a generator? Thanks for the post, and as far as Panther goes, they are an excellent company. Good luck and keep us posted how things are going.

We run for Panther and once you know their system, you should do very well.

Something is not right with your engine or driving habits. I have the same setup and average on a yearly basis 10.8 mpg. I cruise at 65 mph and do not idle.Your rear end gears could be set up for low speed pullingsuch as a dump or tow truck chassis.
Last Saturday I left Tumcari NM heading east with a 40 mph tailwind all day.Got 16 mpg.

What RPM are you doing at 65. I have a 6 speed and at 65 am doing about 2000 RPM.Any Freightliner Dealer should be able to take your Vin number and check the trucks specs, rear end ratio is critical for good mileage or the other extreme for pulling heavy loads.
