That van was for quite a while with Panther... when I signed with them back in March '99, I had truck #1349.

Years ago I had a similiar deal happen. Had a driver disappear with a truck for 4 days. The big problem was it was a high value load for Westinghouse going to a Nuclear plant. The New Jersey State Police found the truck and the load, seems the driver found a girl friend and she was more important than the million dollar load. All they could charge him with was Breech of trust. New Jersey fined him a thousand dollars and a Greyhound ticket. I had to fly another driver up to get the delivery made. He had a tough time getting a driving job after that.

After so much time after a unit leaves a carrier,some carriers recycle unit numbers

Tri State does it, Panther doesn't.
