you guy have made my weekend much more bearable here in Rhode Island waiting for a load thanks for replying to my post it was eye opening and alot of good info that i will use in the future,sometimes we get so caught up in running loads we forget we must take time for ourselfs and make life a little better in a very tough job. i wish you all the very best and be safe and god bless

My team got a load out of El Paso TX to Detriot MI 1980 miles. Pick up on Sat Deliver first thing Monday. You can't beat that weekend.

Truck maintenance, truck cleaning (interior & exterior), personal maintenance (shower, laundry, haircut, etc), shopping (perishables & small storage space means shopping more often), telephone catchup with family & friends, paperwork/accounting, (business & personal), reading & replying to emails, reading (books & newspapers), walking for exercise, food prep (making crockpot meals, large salads & sandwiches ready to grab on the road), reading & typing on EO, sewing projects, an occasional movie.....
And some weekends, (like this one) driving towards a Monday morning delivery.
Sometimes, though, I just lie on the bed & do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for a little while, because it feels good.
Heh, noob here. First time post. Looking over this forum for info on whether or not to get into this business.
After reading this post I'm convinced that this is what it's all about. Not just driving around seeing the country and getting paid for it but being able to take advantage of the downtime by doing what Cheri's talking about, (and to make this a run-on sentence) being able to share all this with a very warm, friendly group of folks who can add more ideas to the op.
Another observation I've made after reading this forum for the last 3 hours is that this is truly one of the best forums I've ever come across. People are friendly, intelligent, informed, and I've only seen one negative comment! So it begs the quesiton: Is this forum really run by drivers or is it run by companies who make it want to look like a blast (lol)!!

I believe that if each poster would add where they were sitting or what state and mile marker they were passing for team drivers it would be easy to see we are all truck drivers and not often in the same place!
One thing that we find fun is when you talk to truck drivers about favorite locations all of the United States is basically treated as a small town with landmarks you are all familiar with. It is often you will talk to someone in Florida and they will say hey next time you are at the Jubitz (truck stop in Portland OR) try this meal or check out the great laundry room. Often the talk leads to if you are in this state there is plenty of truck parking to go see this site or that site. It is just amazing and another amazing part is most can tell you the interstate and the mile marker you need to turn at!

Dropped in Bowling Green Mo. Dh'd on my own to St Charles Mo., just outside St Louis on I-70 Exit 227 at the Regency Mall Walmart.
Got the football game on the laptop, will fire up the satelite dish tomorrow for the race. always got enough homemade food to feed others, stop by if you are in the area!!

Well to bad we are not closer we would come by and say Hi!! We are spending the weekend in Seymour IN at the TA waiting to pick up on Monday.
