Ok, we have all done it (sit on the weekend) hoping for a load out monday, so what do you do to keep from going crazy ? I just like to hear what everyone else does out there to get through the weekend.
Truck maintenance, truck cleaning (interior & exterior), personal maintenance (shower, laundry, haircut, etc), shopping (perishables & small storage space means shopping more often), telephone catchup with family & friends, paperwork/accounting, (business & personal), reading & replying to emails, reading (books & newspapers), walking for exercise, food prep (making crockpot meals, large salads & sandwiches ready to grab on the road), reading & typing on EO, sewing projects, an occasional movie.....
And some weekends, (like this one) driving towards a Monday morning delivery.
Sometimes, though, I just lie on the bed & do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for a little while, because it feels good.

am doing a lot of walking , and some running ,we go on line to fine a city park or a bike trail , the mp3 , and a shower will do.
if weather permitted...
can knock off 3 hours ,and add 2 for sleep time.
and i can eat more !!!
also downloading movies ,and yes EO !!! a lot.
will also spend a good 2 hours a day video chatting with family.

All the above! Our weekends are usually so darn busy I am ready for Monday just to rest up. Weekends are just a great time to get everything ship shape for another week and do some of the fun things we usually at this time of year do not get done. We also make time on the weekends to play on the Wii and if possible go for a bike ride.

from 1-5:30 eastern go to www.americamlemans.com and watch live streaming of the 1000k at road atlanta. the rest of it will be on speed if you can get the channel changed.
if you are near exit 333 on 94 come east to racine for the annual party of the pavement downtown. it celebrates the opening of the streets after 2 yrs of re-constructuon by closing the streets. goes on until 7pm tonite cst. live music, beer, wine, food and places to shop for unique christmas and occassion presents.

Problem here is any work on the truck and doing paperwork would be considered on duty and not allowed during a restart . I've never heard of DOT checking e-mails and computer use during time logged off duty but they do check maintenance records . Don't have receipts for service done during time logged as off duty .
Heck I do not think Bob has ever created a record when he is polishing on the truck, greasing the truck and doing general maintenance.
Usually on the weekends it is us taking care of the truck not going into a shop so no records. There is always tons to do and no way we will could ever say we were caught up. This time of year is perfect to ride bikes and get out and walk!

Absolutely right about that.
every receipt ,need at least 15 on , and sometime 15 for checking in , and 15 for paying the bills.
can care less about the DOT , in case of an accident ,am worried about the lawyer , and the P.I !!!,
there are cameras every were we do business with.
was flaying through the J at Dallas lase night ,

Last Tuesday was my last load I did for the Company I got a less than 75 those that are on the FedEX CC Know what that is it puts ya top of the board and first.
Well Tuesday I went out of service and and took the Truck down to TJ's BGs Mechanic.
Well BG come and got the dry box and took it to Ohio and and retrieved my reefer Trailer. To make a long story short
the Tractor King Pins got replace and I sat in a dirt parking lot at the garage outside in the rain for 4 hours. On Wed. Wed Night at 0 Dark 30 the Tractor got Finished.
Note the Hours at TJ's 10-12 then siesta till 4pm then back to work at 4pm. Like I said I sat in the cold Rain for 4 hours. outside on the Steps. YUPPER that is how I got treated.
On Thur night BG shows back up with the trailer all the Blankets and crap just throwed in the trailer and he even took some straps and some of my bars. Oh I had extra bars and he stole my dolly carts I had 5 now only 2. what a thief.
So Thur night using the Lite of the Blue Beacon Parking lot lights in the Petro at Bordentown I rearragned the Trailer and put it in order.
Friday I got hit with a good load by the dum computer and I said yes to it. I never got it.
I also got hit with a half dozen loads that were paying 1.27 to a 1.42 a mile on toll Roads and Bridges short runs that I couldnt down load enough money to pay fuel and toll for so I said no.
That computer needs to be reprogramed. Im sick of taking hits on Load Opps that shouldnt even be offered to a Tractor Trailer. (HINT)Toll roads especialy EL Cheapo Loads that will put the truck in the Red on. I cant haul Freight for Free. On the discoutned freight maybe they ought to pay 80% vice the 65%.
That would help alot in the decision making as more money on the table .
In any case Friday come and Gone No loads then Sat come and gone had 22 hours dwell I Checked all the centers Richmond Philadelphia, Balt , ect. No one out. No one with a less than 75 but one tractor in Philly with me. Hmm
so I called no Joy and Jumped. I am now in Checked into Richmond VA. On my way down I rechecked the boards guess what the 2 tractors in Richmond got hit with surface loads and another tractor as well. Loved the excuess I Know better as I know the place they went and I got bold faced lied to as They do take reefers there. I asked as I did did the loads when had the dry box for my own information. Sorry I cant be lied to. The dispatcher lied to me again they dont like it when U let them know it either. But I let her off the hook by letting her know I know the truth. No load yet for Monday.
Oh Ya Im at Home.
By the way Mike can stay in a hotel room untill I get a load.
a good load a team load since thats what FedEX wants is teams. A Very good team load I know they have I looking at nothing less than 6000 and thats driver pay % not OOP Pay. bucks.

Sitting on a weekend, it's a little surprising to me no one reads a Sunday paper, or or a good book, listens to Baseball (play offs), Football, or NASCAR.

Bearcat, You just hit my habits!! Sitting this weekend in West Memphis. Yesterday I set up the Direct TV dish and watched college football all day. Today is Nascar and Pro football.
In a bit I'll head to a store and pick up a porterhouse steak a baking potato, some fresh green beans and make dinner. Oh and while I don't buy a paper, I am on the laptop online ALL the time reading the news and forums.
I also have every channel that has talk radio beit news, sports or BS programed into the XM radio and mt night radio.
If I really feel the need, I'll go to a kareoke bar and embarass myself with my attempt to sing!! Oh and enjoy a few cold beers too. But thats mostly fridays, not all weekend!!
When in TX, I have been to 2 local highschool football games on fri nights, and am looking forward to doing the same thing in Indiana for basketball this winter.
And yea when needed i wash the van, sweep it out and do some maitainance. I chaged the burnt out licece plate lite today that a cop in ark. was nice enough to stop be fore and just give me a warning.

I've been around the block a couple of times and I still can't figure out the burned out license plate light syndrome (BOLPLS). I have run across countless scales and endured numerous vehicle inspections and all has been perfect except for the burned out license plate light.
Even in my cargo van (the root of all evil and the demise of the republic) I got escorted into a weigh station because I was displaying flammable placards. When I passed the weight (both axles and tire ratings) and the logbook test, I was subjected to the vehicle inspection. We went around and around about the placard on my hood not being an exact 90 degrees perpendicular to the ground. The scale master couldn't find the regulation in the D.O.T. Bible so I got a fix-it ticket for a burned out license plate light. Everything was fine except for the burned out license plate light.
Do the cops have some type of phazer that when set to stun can disable a license plate lamp? No matter how legal you may think you are, you can always be busted for a burned out license plate light.

Ya know, your mention of karaoke reminded me of what's missing from my weekends: fun. There's no dancing, or bubblebaths, or rollercoasters, or tubing down a lazy river any more. I thought I was happy, but now I see how pathetic my life is lately, and how much I need to add some fun to the mix.
