Zorry,
that is a tire monitoring .
my post is talking about self inflated system for trailers tire.
up until recently, all those systems could do is monitor & inflate.
now days there is only one system that will also 'air out' excessive Psi.
that system is the 'Hendrickson tire max pro +'
it is on back order & my trailer is next inline.
on the Truck's 3 axles i will install the 'VIGIA' system, once my lazy dispatchers can get me a load to Toronto.

Moose, yea I wasn't trying to compare a monitoring system and a self inflation system.
I'm pretty sure self inflators are limited to trailers only now.
A TPMS is readily available and easy to install for a tractor, straight truck,or van.
Saving that tire, and a service failure by delivering on time, made me want to share that story.
This thread about tire failures, and how to prevent them, made me think of it.
What is the Vigia system ?

Thanks for asking.
the VIGIA is a self inflated system with a twist.
since on drive axles we just can't 'inflate' the whole differential hub, (because it will 'pup' the seals), then the vigia takes a different way of getting Psi into the hubcap.
it uses inaxles airlines for the drive's, and outside lines for the steers.
like the monitoring system you have, the Vigia also have a per tire dash monitoring display.
The Vigia however cannot 'air out' excessive air.
Trailer Tire Pressure Systems
NONE of the systems above are perfect & there's a LOT to know before choosing one.
most system's we see out there don't really work in the real world, just a sales peach.

An interesting side note.
Cruise America puts nitrogen in the tires of their rental fleet of motorhomes.
I imagine this was researched and deemed to be beneficial.

Other things I learned from their website.
They use glass mat batteries and roof-top solar panels to assist with the day time hotel loads.
They charge $3 per hour for use of the generators, which they claim are subject to frequent service interruptions. All generators pictured appeared to be Onan's which was disturbing to this new Onan owner.

So was New Coke.

Yeah, but I think they asked Pepsi drinkers their opinions of the New Coke formula. IIRC it tasted a lot like Pepsi.
If they'd asked Coke fiends like me, people who knew what CocaCola was supposed to taste like, they'd have saved themselves the embarrassment and expense of their mistake. :D

I thought Vigia was a little blue pill?

I have a Mazda 5 which uses a Low profile, short sidewall Hi Perfomance 50 series tire, these things go up and down daily it seesm with Air temp, and where and how Im driving, The Nitrogen doesnt expand when its hot, neither does it contract while cold, I think theres a cost savings there that if you dont have a tire pressure monitoring system. Its been very beneficial to me in my car and when I get the new truck its gonna recieve same...nothing compares to checking with a gauge and being PRO active on Tires and Inflation, But its already giving me better gas mileage and I think better handling as the Nitrogen doesnt heat and cause overinflation when I want to go sports car driving in the small car....

Id think on the highways and in this summer weather extreme it could save tires and time...

I had a side wall blow out in late June on one of my inner tires. The tread was low, but still legal. I decided after 6+ years to replace all 4 rears with new good years.I was trying to wait until November/December but I'm glad I did just for the peace of mind.
