Part of the bankruptcy agreement required Flying J to sell off 10 locations to Love's.
Pilot has been guiding this whole scenario and as they knew of the sell off to Love's and that they were acquiring the remaining J's it would have been proactive on their part to inform drivers at the existing J's of the change at other locations over to Love's.
They post everything else on the doors to these locations.
I just think it to be very poorly handled.
Well, they couldn't do any informing before the merger date, due to both SEC rules and under the J's bankruptcy agreement. But the day the merger happened, a list of affected locations went on line. In addition to the
Julesburg, CO; North Wells, NV; and Payson, UT Flying J locations that will be closing up permanently, the other 26 locations that have been sold to Love's can be found here: Love's is a Many Splendored Thing
As for the TA relaunching the Expedite King program, and making changes based on feedback from expediters, that's awesome. We won't know the details until the Expo, but for me and many others, the food purchase requirement was the big turn-off. Getting a free shower for buying 20 gallons of fuel, but
only if you also purchased something out of the restaurant, doesn't
feel like a loyalty program, it feels like they're extorting a restaurant purchase out of you to prove your loyalty to them. Fact is, I spend far more in food and snacks at the J solely because of their shower program.
The the revamped program indeed comes with no strings attached, then I'm far more likely to spend money in the convenience store, and eat at the TA restaurants, especially in light of their new
'Fit Friendly' menu items that debut this month.
This month, TravelCenters of America (TA) executive chef Thomas Straub introduces four "flavorful and fit-friendly" menu items to the TA full-service restaurants. Introduced under the banner of "Stay Fit with Flavor," these meals were created to offer less than 600 calories each. The items include Shrimp Stir Fry, Chicken Stir Fry, a Grilled Chicken Breast Dinner served with wild rice and a classic grilled chicken sandwich.
The introductory Stay Fit with Flavor menu items are available at the more than 100 TA restaurants, primarily operating under the Country Pride name for a limited time.
"If drivers like the new menu items, we will continue developing more fit-friendly options in the future," said Straub.
I encourage people, especially those who drive an actual CMV, to click the link and read the entire article, as the second half of that article has some nifty information about CSA 2010.
In other company news, TA has announced a comprehensive set of initiatives to help drivers adapt to the new, important safety and inspection standards, commonly referred to as "CSA 2010," at all TA Truck Service and Petro:Lube locations.
Every TA Truck Service and Petro:Lube location will conduct "training days" for drivers from mid-July through November for drivers. Every Thursday at 2:00 p.m. local time, informational videos will air detailing the new CSA 2010 standards. These 20-minute videos will be followed by opportunity for drivers to submit feedback.
Pretty kewl, if you ask me.
