Hi, I'm located in Ontario and thinking about switching from company driver (big trucks) to o/o Sprinter van.

Should I do it and if so, any thoughts on who I should sign on with.

Thanks for any help, everyone drive safe...

There will be lots of comments, I'm sure. But I have a question ... Ontario Canada, or California?

I'm a straight truck driver for FXCC, with zero sprinter experience. In my opinion your ability and willingness to cross the border will be an asset. Seems my carrier will DH us a long way to pick up a load going to Canada ( other trucks closer but not willing to cross the border) .

Best of luck !

It's a tough market right now getting freight out of Canada. Some big carriers run very cheap out of there. Many just DH out.

I have no problem crossing the border (even have a FAST card). Guess I just need to call a few recruiters and see what's going on. Thompson-Emergency are advertising, any info on them would be great.

Thanks for all the comments so far :)

Most Thompson guys I've talked with are happy and stay busy. Sprinters only there now, no cargo vans so you should be good.

Good stuff, thanks for the info Scottm, I see some of the Thompson drivers on the highway, but can never catch them to chat with.

As a one time shipper for a large automotive supplier, I used Thompson Emerg. all the time. Found their service as excellent. Now that my plant closed down I'm looking at being the "Expeditor" instead of doing the the "Expediting". Been driving truck for a year now for a floral wholesaler, driving to NY, Mass, CT, NJ. Pa. etc. Would love to be an expeditor. I have talk to the recruiter at Thompson but have yet to talk to any drivers. Was wondering in "invasionuk" has joined Thompson yet? would love to hear his thoughts of the place. Also any other Thompson drivers are also welcome to comment on the company.. Thanks

Talk to Dynamex first, or TST... I don't trust Thompson...
