Ok, have anyone, after reaching thier monetary goals for the year, ever put a team in thier truck for a the last month or two of the year? Just to keep the truck running and take time off as well. Just wondering. The subject has come up from time to time at truck stops etc. Sounds interesting. MMMM more duck hunting tme!!! Layoutshooter

Yeah but who how are you going to find a QUALIFED team to work for one month or two plus when you are out shooting down ducks they may have problems and need assistance.

I am probably overly cautious but I cannot imagine putting anyone in my bread and butter! No matter how we have done for the year our truck has never made enough income to let someone else have a chance of wrecking her and they walk away and get into another truck.

If you want to go duck shooting which does sound like great fun make sure you have met your goals and take "some" time off. For us the future is always our goal and we want to retire to do the things we want. If we have met our goals that extra goes into our retirement fund.

I got married the 13th of July this year. I took off from July 2nd till the first week in August.

I had a team member that was running with me before I went on my vacation, so I allowed him to continue running my truck while I was on vacation .. MISTAKE

Seems like as soon as I got out of the truck his mind went straight to stupid. I do know he had the truck at his brothers in Daytona Beach Fl, and from the looks of things, on the beach as a party barge..

Repair bills when the truck got home totalled more than the truck had grossed for the time that he was on the road.. 4 new tires, new rim, complete from end taken apart, cleaned, inspected, regreased from sand being in all components. Oil changed, coolant changed, differentials drained and new fluid. It took me a couple of days just to vacume all the sand out from inside my truck. Not to mention I missing all my straps, a couple of load bars, ladder, and broom.

The truck won't ever leave the driveway again without me being in the truck..

Not to worry, most you will find will be "short term" just by nature of the beast.

Was just wondering out loud. I thought it might help me learn about picking drivers if I ever wanted to start a fleet. I do know someone who might be interested. I have known them for 2 years and know how they work. I would most likely go that route if I do anything. It is hard to get hunting time when the seasons run at the same time that is our busy season. Trying to get the most out of life before I retire. Might not make it that long. Thanks as always for the great input. Layoutshooter

Hey Greg,

Would a team of ducks in a truck be a **FLY BY NIGHT TEAM**? Sorry about that, could not resist.

The problem with the ducks would be that they would only want to go south this time of year, Quack Quack.
