Shore Power?

Morning all. I'm starting Tuesday and wonder about finding shore power on the road. I and am sure everyone else will need shore power occasionally. Do you guys know of places where a humble fellow can hook up to recharge a battery, etc. Thanks.

I had my "C" truck wired for Shore Power anticipating the day when hookups would be available. So far it hasn't happened except for the far Northwest. Seems like a no brainer to me.
Idleaire you may have heard of went bankrupt. There has been some talk of it rising from the dead, but so far nothing.

Here is a link about the system in the far Northwest. Truck Stop Electrification- Charging Stations- Idle Reduction- TSE

The only way I am aware of to get shore power for the most part is to steal it from a building that as an outside accessible plug and use an extention cord....good luck with that....

another reason to use a "house bank', isolator, and or generator....

Places we have used shore power for our truck:

1. At home in our driveway

2. At RV parks when staying there

3. At Jubitz truck stop in Portland, Oregon

4. At the homes of friends and relatives when we are staying there.

5. In the service bays at dealerships when the truck is being worked on.

6. In the ARI (sleeper manufacturer in Shipshewana, IN) parking lot where free shore power is offered as a courtesy to their customers.

7. In the parking lot of Koester's truck paint and body shop in Fort Wayne, IN where we spend the night while having work done.

Places we have seen shore power but did not use it:

1. At the 49er truck stop in Sacramento, California.

2. At the newly rebuilt service plaza on I-95 in Delaware.

Getting people's permission to plug your shore power connection into their outlet is smart. You will make few friends by tripping the breaker where or when it cannot be quickly re-set. Something important may be on that circuit that you may not know about. Better to be safe than sorry.

Stealing WiFI is one thing, but stealing electricity will get you into real trouble.
