I just leave the little whiskers on them until they wear off on their own.

It is called tire truing. Can be beneficial. Most new tires when installed aren't 100 percent round.
This addresses that problem. Finding a place with the machine can be difficult but it isn't expensive.

It does work. See it used a lot for racing tires and works good on motorcycles as well.

Most new tires are not truly round. That is why they have that machine. Just something tire dealers (unless they are good) will never tell you. We use a shop in Orlando. But there are several that do it.

I know a guy that had 3 Million plus miles on a 359.
Said the alignment shop across from the Mack dealer in Orlando was the only shop that could figure out a problem he had. I'm thinking near Orange Blossom Trail ?

Thanks for the info.
Harrisonburg is an area I visit often.
My brother-in-law's route is in Harrisonburg and I like to ride with him when I'm visiting family there.

Kinda makes you wonder why the manufacturer doesn't have that machine.

They do.......being an truck and bus machine operator at Firestone and inspector.....But they only use the real good one for the truck makers....replacement tires are NOT the perfect ones...sounds incredible but that goes for car tires as well.....IF they need grinding they go to the aftermarket the ones that balance perfect ar sent to the automakers...

I used to repair blistered truck tires.....grinding out the hole and filling it in and spot baking the rubber back in....like pot hole repairing....and Blacking it over...

The balancing on auto tire is done at the same time the whitewall is ground out....

ever see a balance weight on a new vehicle?......
