Had a nibble this morning, but nothing so far. The weather here in Dallas is much better then "that other place", even if it is raining.

cough cough, oh they will lately for me, I'm thinking I need to start asking "what's it pay" before saying yes or at least avoid the shock

I always remind myself....what did I get with another carrier?....it makes it more real.....

I've been in Texas for an entire week, and haven't moved a single pound of freight. I certainly hope dispatch figures out something soon. One can not live on layover pay alone...

you should have went to elpaso for a nice weekend run. we do pretty good there. hope they get you something. if not, another move may be in your future. best of luck. dont really know why they moved you to dallas. freight is always hard to come by there.

That's true, I really should clarify as "Cheap" is a subjective term that means different things to different people. My Laredo load out, well that was really bad haha, but the others have been just on pair with other carriers, just not what I have been used to getting. Until....my Friday night surprise load out of Kentucky to Chicago. Yup, it payed a boat load  and delivered 2 days early, thankfully since I was jam packed full (again). Every load I have had since I started as O/O last month has been a full load except the very first load. I never had this many back to back full loads since I started with L1 haha. Turned out to be a pretty decent week after all. Hopefully a good sign of more to come

Mike I cannot explain your bad luck. No unit in the fleet has come close to sitting like you this last week. I know it sucks and must be very frustrating. I wish I had an answer but I do know the teams have been trying very hard and everyone knows you need a load.

Sat in Dallas for over 24 hours and dispatch did call this morning and told me to deadhead to Nashville, TN! Great news. Maybe I'll get into a better freight lane.

Now that I'm 2 1/2 hrs east of Dallas, they call and tell me their bidding on a load from DALLAS to El Paso. I'm not sure I understand that thinking.

I feel for you, I really do.In my opinion, I really think the true enemy down there,as far as not getting loads out of there is, the huge amount of inbound freight, and very little outbound freight. And, when it does happen, it's an all-out bidding price war.If those who bid in the toilet rates, really knew just how bad they are screwing up this industry. This kind of bidding war has got to be so frustrating for our dispatch, to bid on a load, respectfully, and see just how low the load actually goes for.

It is really difficult to say no to a load of that size, going down there. And the pay. But, the end result is, or can be, no matter how hard dispatch is trying, is the amount of competition down there.

I'd bite the bullit and go to either Little Rock, or Jackson, Tn, if it was me.

If the deadhead is paid and the rate is good, freight is good from any point! It is really a crap shoot in this business. We move you out of Laredo and then the truck behind you loads out, this business is anything but predictable. A good move one week is a terrible move the next week. The crystal ball is a pretty foggy thing in this business.

It can be a tough business. I deadheaded out of Hudson, WI last night. Then, reading the general forums locations thread, I see where somebody picked up a load in??? Yep, you guessed it, Hudson, WI.....lol.

It's just the way it goes in this business. I do have some complaints about better communication between driver and dispatch to help us make our own decisions. We do have to remember though...in the final tally...we are independent contractors and it is our own decision to sit or move....and where to.
