Things posted in a carrier forum should rarely if ever be moved to a general forum.
Thank you for your valued input. We will take your suggestion under advisement.
There are already general guidelines that are in place, namely if something is of general interest but gets posted to a carrier forum because the OP only wants responses from people from their carrier, it's likely gonna be moved, as they have in the past for that very reason. The Carrier Forums should be used for topics that are primarily of interest to the drivers of those forums, or which primarily apply to that carrier. If the EO Forums devolve into a collection of Carrier Forums where general interest are contained within those forums, then those forums will go away.
"If something is relevant for the general forums and someone would like to discuss it on a general level then they should create their own post in such a category exactly like was done with this thread."
That very argument was used in the past on several occasions and it didn't fly then and it won't fly now. If something is relevant for the general forums, then it should be posted in the general forums to begin with. Not a single valid argument has yet been made as to why a topic of general relevance should be segregated out in one or more Carrier Forums for the specific purpose of excluding others. It smacks of only having certain people from certain carriers worthy of being allowed to respond, or only certain people's responses are worth taking the time to read - all you little people need not bother us. And it smacks of snooty and snotty. We've already got one snooty and snotty forum, which is one too many, and quite frankly we've got another one which is rapidly evolving into a second one. People can don the outfit and shake the pom poms all they want, but as soon as they start acting like they're better than those who are with other carriers, I'm gonna call 'em on it.
In this particular case (
Driver Appreciation Week), it's open to interpretation, that of it being general relevance, or that it was directed specifically towards Mr Elliot. If it was the former, it should be moved, if it was the latter, it should be explained and then left alone. I think it's been explained well enough to be left alone.
And on a similar and not unrelated note, the sophomoric little snipes at other EO members like the ones to be found in this thread (and far too many others) are gonna stop. For those of you who read it, but failed to comprehend the meaning of it, let me know in a PM and I will explain the nuances of the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is very simple, and the salient portions that apply here are:
2. Be respectful of others at all times.
3. Personal attacks are prohibited.
There are several posts here in this thread that add zero to the thread, even less intelligence to the conversation, and only serve to disrupt the forums as they are unprovoked personal attacks which are disrespectful to everyone.
