My guess is Ford will blow it in some aspect...too heavy or over priced...

Or no diesel. Saw a lot of transits in Denmark in different configs all diesel. Saw a few festiva and mondeo Auto diesels also.
Fuel was 12.49 kroners for 95 oct and 11.20 for diesel . Conversion is 5.5 per dollar per liter.

and that is where the snag is....IF they put a diesel in..the van will be heavy empty...and payload will be smaller...and we will grumble about it
put a gasser only in and we will grumble about that too...Ford can't win with expediters....LOL
You can be sure that if they put a diesel in these, it is going to be a light engine, not the pig 7.4 international.
Personally, I hope for a 4 cylinder diesel.

You're probably right. As much as I like Ford, they're not much better than GM when it comes to product innovation.
I'd be curious to know if this will come in different grades(E150, E250, 350, etc.) like the Eseries does.
I think Fords been hitting some home runs the past few years.
A couple of points here.
1. Any new vehicles, gas or diesel, will be more expensive to maintain and repair due to new epa crap.
2. You cannot focus only on one aspect (higher maintenance) when you consider a vehicle. You absolutely need to consider also the savings at the pump.
For example, my Sprinter saved me already at the pump its price when I got it new in 2004. That is right. My Sprinter saved me 30000 in fuel compared with a gas v8 Ford. And, my Sprinter has been in the shop 2 times in its life, and that was warranty work. Now, if I compare it with a cargomax, the number will be higher.
So you see, even though I paid more for the Sprinter, and it costs more to maintain, I still ended up cheaper owning a sprinter than if I owned a gas Ford v8. And the savings keep adding up.
Those gas hogs should have been discontinued years ago.

True, well, at least in comparison to GM and Crysler. The only disappointment is they're doing away with the Ranger.

Got to tell you some disappointing news there OVM, they don't give a ****** *** * * about expediters. They, just like GM and Fhrysler, they don't even have expediters on the radar - very small market.
Nope not me driving them around but I know they blew their chance a few times. Unlike other things, they are trying to figure out the transition of the transit while many have come out and said they just need to put it out there.
They do have diesels, the weight difference is the same as the mercedes so no complaining will take place.

I read that the Transit was the replacement for the e series. There are going to be a certain segment of people such as myself that will be very upset when this happens.

I don't see the big deal with a change, the econoline is old, albeit a solid name but times change and we are in a global market so if they can save a buck in producing something, they need to go for it.
As for GM, the writing is on the wall, they are on borrowed time and have been since they got our of their "bankruptcy". They are doing the same exact thing that got them into the mess in the first place and because Toyota and other Japaneses based companies had to cut production, GM's market share went up but I, like many here think that they will not be able to keep it with the junk they are producing.

Hurry and get here.......................around 180 to 200 in. wheelbase; 9,900gvw;30mpg and hope the curb weight, not 7,300lbs ...................and so on.
and if the price tag is 40-50 k? Still then?
I would think it'll be priced lower than a Sprinter?
I am not looking forward to that....especially a diesel version..heck the CV itself is about 35? new down here now...
