Sarkozy on multiculturalism

You know, it sounds all that great on the surface but you really have to put it in context to the country, like France, who has a different immigration outlook and a different culture than our own.

BUT with that said, you also have to delve into their own mess with their own BIG loss of national identity through the European Union, which has spurred a lot of this nationalist slanted thought in the past 10 years - and the reason for Oslo. If one wants to equate Multiculturalism with just Arabs, which the French and Germans are talking about, then they also have to actually come to grips with the problem that the European Union's creation caused by making one big multicultural state out of the European continent. No longer is there much difference within Europe of who is who, an Italian now can be a Frenchman but can also be a German. They now are treated as a unit of a corporation and not as an individual country. Agricultural quotas are one, harmonizing laws is another and having one currency is the third in a long line of multicultural attacks against national identities of these countries.

Now with that said, the French have a few of their own problems and Sarkozy is speaking about everything on a nationalist level. Merkel has said the same thing and so has others in other EU countries, all of which have had colonies where they did the same thing as their immigrants are doing to them now - staying in a tight community and not becoming what the indigent population wants them to be.

Here, I don't see the accommodations here that they have tried to make there, I just don't see it. I mean outside of providing language and religious accommodations, we have yet to come to point where we need to invoke some sort of laws special to one group or another in order to make it fair based on their religion or origin. We have yet changed our way of life based on our fears of a religion but we have based on our own fears from our own stupidity.

We have multiculturalism here. It just hasn't invaded our political system as it has in Europe. However, the problem of political correctness is a problem here, as in Europe.

I would say crap like the Islamic chanting in Hamtramck and the prayer rooms at UofM are special rules. Illegal immigrants have special rules too. We might not be flooded with Muslims, but we sure are by the unwanted peasants from south of the border. And we are getting inundated with laws protecting THEM from US... and this is OUR country, not THEIRS. Just like in Britain, the invaders (Muslim extremists there, LaRaza here) can spew their hate; but we, as the majority, cannot. It's called hate speech in Britain, and ethnic intimidation here.

I don't see it as a problem when it is related to immigration as much as I see it as a problem when it is related to civil rights.

Both issues are valid but not the same as the French running scared because of the riots in Paris and other cities by very poor people - not just Muslims.

Hamtramck is an interesting one, because I can sit down there off of Joseph Compau and barely hear the call for pray - which does not happen the traditional five times but only four. It is no more offensive as the rap party my neighbors have regularly but you are right, that is an accommodation and it wasn't done through fear but through our system.

The U of M foot baths and prayer areas in Dearborn are also things that happened not because the Muslim population (like in Paris) got up and demanded they be installed but rather because of the system that was used to convince the powers at U of the M to allow it. By the way, one of the really important reasons that it is there is because U of the M health systems maintains those prayer centers for a few religions.

Well see here is the problem, not once after the two attempts made in congress have we have had an outcry to get rid of those in congress who tried to make them legal. You see what I'm saying here? If we don't care enough to counter these issues through our system and limit what they can do and what can happen to us, who's fault is it, the group of immigrants who are not afraid to make noise and get things done or the people who are doing the complaining?

Go to You Tube titled Elaborate Welfare and there's your multiculturalism. If it's true then no wonder why our Social Security is broke! :(
