Rough Day

Got out on the "River" yesterday, had a really rough day. The wind (as normal) was coming out of 3 different directions making it very difficult to control the drift speed and direction. The water was a "funny" color that was not a good "fishing color".

Then there were the boat problems. The engine started acting up It is like it is either not getting fuel or it is getting air in the fuel lines. It "stalls" out when you try to take off.

Water, is a great thing for drinking, fishing in and boating on. It is NOT a good thing when it starts coming in the boat, in very large amounts!! We noticed it when it started coming up over the floor boards. SO, we "beat feet" for the dock. Not an easy task with the motor acting up and all that water weight made it very difficult to get up on plane.

I get to spend my very limited fishing time working on the boat now. What fun!! :( I guess I can't complain too much, the boat is 25 years old. Things are bound to happen once it gets this old.

Geez Layout,Ya took the old saying, A bad day fishing is better then a good day at work and turned it all around..
If maybe ya had your waders with ya, just maybe, just maybe ya could have stayed out a lil longer. :D

Not sure what kinda fuel tank ya got but if its an external with lines going to motor,,check them out,,Ive had mine sucking air thru the clamps and have had to replace them sevral times..I think sitting in the sun eats up those lines fairly fast..

It is a 12 gallon plastic tank. The lines are fine. I checked them. I have two. A "good" one from West Marine parts and a "cheapo" one, my back up, made by Tempo.

We changed all the "O" rings on the fuel tank, replaced and tightened all the clamps on the engine lines.

It might be electrical, each cylinder has it's own coil and this still has points.

We got it to run in the yard but it will not run on the "River" once there is a "load" on the prop.

It will have to go in the shop. That will have to wait till I get some spare green "magic paper"

So much for fishing this year. :( I will have to have it fixed before duck season. Maybe I will hit the lottery before then and I can just buy a new one, more suited to my needs. :)

I wish I could get a new boat, there is just NO way at this time. :(

The D.U. event went well. I have not yet heard what we made. We did find out that we made the Top 100 money earners AGAIN for last year. We were number 72 out of the 3500 North American Chapters. We sent $60,000 to D.U. last year. I have a feeling that this year might be better.

Thanks for the help but the wife would not be a problem. She knows I need a boat to stay sane and has not ever said no to things like that, except when the check book raises kane.

I have a shop here I have been going to for years, they are very good. They have been at the same shop for 30 years or longer. I am just waiting for the same check book to bail me out.
