Ron Paul: ‘What we need is more WikiLeaks’

Glad to see that at least some that hail from Texas have some common sense ...

"Popular Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul is no stranger to breaking with his party, but in a recent television appearance the libertarian-leaning Rep. went even further than any member of Congress in defending whistleblower website WikiLeaks.

Speaking to Fox Business host Judge Napolitano on Thursday about recent revelations at the Federal Reserve, Paul's typical candor showed through.

"What we need is more WikiLeaks about the Federal Reserve," he said. "Can you imagine what it'd be like if we had every conversation in the last 10 years with our Federal Reserve people, the Federal Reserve chairman, with all the central bankers of the world and every agreement or quid-pro-quo they have? It would be massive. People would be so outraged."

Perhaps he'll get his wish ...... and maybe even in time for Christmas ...... :D

"Paul, a longtime critic of the US Federal Reserve, is the incoming chairman of a House subcommittee on monetary policy. His most recent book, titled "End the Fed," takes aim at central banks the world over, blaming fiat money systems and fractional reserve banking for the world's increasingly volatile economies.

In a free society we're supposed to know the truth,” Paul insisted. “In a society where truth becomes treason, then we're in big trouble. And now, people who are revealing the truth are getting into trouble for it."

Data released by the Federal Reserve on Wednesday showed that foreign banks were among the biggest recipients of some $3.3 trillion in emergency loans offered by the US central bank amid the 2008 financial crisis.

More than $290 billion worth of mortgage securities were sold to Deutsche Bank, a German lender. Credit Suisse, a Swiss bank, got more than $287 billion in mortgage bonds. Corporations like Caterpillar, General Electric, Harley Davidson, McDonald’s, Verizon and Toyota also relied the programs."

Serious question, why isn't there more talk about Ron Paul running in 2012. Instead, all I hear about is Palin, Gingrich, Huckabee, John Bolton, and anyone else who happens to be employed by FoxNews, including Beck.

Because Ron Paul still has a scattered acceptance among republicans. He could do better with a better message but choses to go along with the same thing.

A number of his ideas are great but the one that kills his credibility - beside not wanting to talk to fellow libertarians - is the idea to do away with all taxes.

In light of what they have already released re: the current administration (which shows them in an entirely unfavorable light), I'm fairly sure if a whistleblower would submit it to them, they would indeed release it.

..... you know anybody in Hawaii ?

I hope I am following "Net Etiquette" and not hijacking a thread.

Sarah Palin, if I am not mistaken is the front runner for the nomination right? If not, in the top 3 wouldn't you say? Republicans think she has better message than Ron Paul, seriously? If doing away with all taxes is the only thing that is holding back Republicans nominating him, that is a sad commentary on the affairs of the Republican party. Just because he wants to do away with all taxes doesn't mean he can or will do it if he wins the Presidency.

Unbelievable.

Well see the press vilified her and hillary which I thought was wrong. Palins position was taken right from Reagan's play book which was popularized by the right leaning press.

Most of which she stood for was what many wanted to hear but because she had a serious issue with the press and entertainers for that matter, the message got garbled and re-written.

NOT defending her actions post election, I don't want my politicians to be stars, I want them to work. BUT it has to be said that even today, when you read a much of the mainstream stuff about her, it is like reading about some mass murderer.

By the way, if you dig back into the 2008 election press coverage, you can see where there are parallels between hillary and palin in both hateful rhetoric and spin.

Ron Paul has about as much experience and understanding about international affairs as Obama does. He has NO business in that office.

So you are essentially saying the press has made Palin look bad? She hasn't brought any of this upon herself? C'mon man.

My question was, why do we not here Ron Paul's name more when talking about nominee's for 2012 and the only names I keep hearing are Palin, Gingrich, etc, etc. I do not hear Paul's name at all.

When reading what you wrote about Palin, we shouldn't be hearing her name at all.

She has brought on some herself and it would NOT surprise me that there was just a "tad" of "creative" editing going on. After all, the press was out to get Obama elected. So much for a "Free and unbiased" press. It has always been bad but this past election it was disgusting.

Who do you think has the international affairs experience you are looking for? Who would you like to see nominated for 2012, be it a Republican, Democrat, Independent, Tea Party or whatever party?

All you have to do is read her "tweets" to find out all you need to know. Just the fact that I said, "read her tweets", should stop any discussion of her being the President.

No one that I know of. I cannot give you the name of anyone from any party right now that I would WANT to vote for. Nothing new. I have NEVER voted for ANYONE that I WANTED in that office. I have ALWAYS voted AGAINST someone.

More from Ron Paul on wikileaks (a paraphrase of what he's said):

(T)he American State claims the right to know every single thing about us: every dime we earn and spend, every phone call we make or email we send. To track our movements. To know what we are teaching our children. To ascertain our shower head and toilet tank. Now even to see all of you naked or feel you up. And a million and one other insanities, indignities, and outrages. Every single aspect of life is within the State’s jurisdiction, or so it claims. But for us to know anything about the State, aside from its propaganda, is treason. That is, of course, because the State is a criminal enterprise that depends on our consent. The more we know about its murders, its looting, its lying, the less willing we are to consent, to be good little robots, indeed, to worship it as a god, which is always its ultimate ambition, pharaonic Egypt being its ideal.

It is still too early to worry about who is going to run for Pres in 2012 almost 2 years away, those who will run will probably start making announcements some time next spring/summer

That's sad. Thankfully, not everyone takes that approach when it comes to casting a vote. If they did, we might as well not hold elections, because you are NEVER going to get a candidate that you agree with on everything. To me that is the easy way out and let's you say, "Hey, don't blame me, I didn't vote for the guy." You essentially didn't vote for anyone.

Ron Paul serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee (after having previously served on the Western Hemisphere, and the Asia and Pacific subcommittees), the Joint Economic Committee, and the Committee of Financial Services (as Ranking Member of the Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and Technology subcommittee, and Vice-Chair of the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee). I wouldn't say he's exactly a foreign affairs virgin.

Not a virgin, just silly. I have listened to him. His ideas will NEVER work. Just as the ideas of King Putz the 1st are not working.
