"We just can't keep borrowing money that isn't there."
We can, if it offers a better chance of repaying it.
We can NOT keep borrowing and spending at the present pace, and there's no way any of Obama's spending/borrowing policies "offer a better chance of repaying it." What it does is put our children and grandchildren deeper into the financial hole. If they raise our taxes, all that happens is they take our money to pay interest on the mounting debt and continue to spend anyway. We have to put someone in office that realizes government must learn to make do with less of our money. That person isn't Obama and those people aren't liberal democrats.
Just look at Greece. We aren't far away.
Sure we are - or would be, if American business would invest in America [by paying their taxes, instead of paying accountants to find ways to avoid it] and in Americans by creating and keeping decent jobs here. Americans have always been workers, but then, there used to be jobs that paid enough to live a decent middle class life, until they were traded for more profit to the shareholders.....
No one I know espouses Communism, despite the claims of some - people just want to work and pay their bills and raise their kids and save for the future, mostly, but it can't be done on what jobs pay these days.
Meanwhile, the rich just keep getting richer, the income disparity keeps increasing, and carriers keep making more money, but O/O's are making less.....
Is 'business' going to fix that?
American businesses are already taxed at the highest rate in the world - and that's the problem. Their taxes need to be lowered by about 10-15 points, and capital gains taxes need to be lowered to about 1/2 what they are now. A tax moratorium should be declared on repatriated profits so money can come back into the private sector of the US and companies can use it to make capital improvements, expand their businesses and create jobs. Companies and individuals don't go into business to generate money to give to the government - the go into business to make a profit for themselves and their shareholders. If that works, they expand their business to make MORE money - this creates jobs necessary for expansion and growth, creates more taxpayers, and it all hinges around PROFITS.
PROFITS ARE GOOD - and it's the duty of every American businessman to avoid paying any more taxes than those to which he's legally obligated. If Barack Hussein Obama takes the profits from companies who provide goods and services to the consuming public and gives it to those who produce nothing, we'll soon be Greece. The problem is, he thinks that's a desirable goal. Romney may not be perfect, but he'll definitely take us in the opposite direction of Greece.
Regarding "The Rich": what exactly would be their "fair share"?
Right now the top 10% of wage earners paid 71% of all income taxes collected (based on 2009 latest figures available).
The top 1% that the liberals and the MSM like to villify paid 37% of all income taxes. Considering the bottom 50% of taxpayers pay about 2% of the income taxes collected, I'd like to ask: who's not paying their fair share? Most of that bottom 50% actually get a distribution check from all the credits they get from the govt - "spreading the wealth around" don't cha know? And we wonder why the labor participation rate is the lowest it's been in about 40 years.
Regarding the disparity between the rich and the not-rich. This is a natural result of high unemployment. A company can now hire an experienced worker for considerably less than they would have been able to when unemployment was 4.5% during the Bush years. Consider someone that's been unemployed for 14 months gets a job offer doing the same thing he was doing before, but for $15K less. You think he's going to haggle about salary when there are 300 other qualified applicants in line for that same position? It's basic supply and demand in the labor force, and it will stay that way until private enterprise is allowed to recover in a free market environment without government interference. Romney understands this capitalist concept - the socialist Obama does not.
