Road Test Required for FDCC?

Hi, quick question, I'm trying to figure out what is required to be approved Fed Ex Custom Critical. I am pasting the following from their website:

All straight truck drivers (C & D units) must have:
Six months minimum, verifiable commercial driving experience in same size vehicle intended to operate or greater within the past two years of the driver application date or
Pass a road test from a commercial driver training school pre-approved by FedEx Custom Critical.

My husband and I have a Class A cdl which we obtained by going through Mid Florida Tech in Orlando, Fl, a community college, I believe it was 160 hours and we logged over 1200 miles during school in a tractor trailer. We successfully completed the course and received a certificate along with the cdl.

My question is: If Mid Florida Tech is a school that is approved by Fed Ex CC, would we already qualify or would they require us to take another road test? Btw, we graduated in Feb of this year.

Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

The best way to answer this is to call FedEx and ask them directly. If it is, you should be good to go with a quick review and maybe a little refresher and a document signed off by the instructor, otherwise you may have to find a place to take one.

The road test is not hard, to be exact, maybe their safety office gives them? - he should maybe be reading this.

Also the 6 month thing, ah yep that isn't a problem with a number of fleet owners who put new drivers in the seat without road experience.

Hope that helps.

Hard to get a refresher without a truck available to us. I don't know if our school offers a refresher or not, I"ll have to check with them. They were pretty nice, so maybe...

Just wondering also if we have to pay for this road test that is required?

Yes you will have to pay for the road test. Your best reply will be to call in and get the answers you need straight from FedEx.

If you are going to be driving for a fleet owner they might let you use thier truck to take the road test with to get qualified @FDCC. Or maybe you could rent a Ryder truck that has air brakes to take the test with.
