D.O.T. will be holding their annual shakedown in three weeks.
The Good. For one week we will see allot less rolling garbage on the roads.
The Bad. Delays, getting from point A to point B.
The Ugly. Over zealous attitudes of some inspectors, poor attitudes of douche bag driver with a chip on their shoulder, the cops that write the tickets, and not to mention the fines.

But of course its all about safety, right?

Found this on the C.V.S.A. website might help us vets as well as newbie's.

Hopefully we can all keep our cash in our wallets.

Bob;

I'm just going to refer to this post for my next Blog.

I couldn't possibly write the blog as well and concise as this post.

Nice work.

For those travelling west on I-20 in Mississippi, the westbound weigh station @ the Louisiana border is sort of starting early. They are stopping a parking lot full of trucks at a time to check IFTA and cab cards
Safe travels.

Last year we had one truck get pulled for two level 1 inspections within a span of about four hours. Both were passed, but the load was late.

To say one is ready or not. For your information, if they want too they can and will find something wrong even on a brand new Truck and Trailer. That's not a lie. Now what I do see is a lot of Expediters go OOS during these Safety Excursions and thus enabling myself to make money. The Junker Trucks go OOS and run home. Scooters and Skate Boards real work Truck No Chrome Co Caddies or Lincolns or Bentley's, Rolls Royce here. Southbound I-65 KY at TN border is starting early as well, lvl one, hazmat, told the wifee he had a quota to meet, 10% had to be hazmat. We had cat 1 aboard. He wanted QC instructions sheet, hazmat lic., along with everything else. I was manning the printer in the sleeper producing sd items that were misplaced as she delayed as long as she could. 1st time in 7 yrs we were asked for the QC instruct sheet. They were going to bust the bolt seals and she mentioned she would need to call dispatch and gain replacement bolt seals because they require bolts on cat 1. DOT officer sd he'd darn sure break the seals if he wanted to, but he didn't. No violations, new sticker and we were on our way.

Good to hear you got out of there clean.
You said southbound KY @ TN border, was it in KY rest area? Or TN scale?

We were listening to road dog the other day and they had the coordinator for road heck on the program. He was ask the question about multiple inspections only hours apart. His answer was we can't control multiple inspections during roadcheck or any other time. Personally, I understand that anything can go wrong with a truck at anytime but we do need some discretion with multiple stops only hours apart. If you get stopped on day one and then day three, that's one thing. To be stopped at 9:00 AM then at 11:00 AM or even 3:00 PM on the same day is something else. They could control this if they chose to. A simple message sent to all enforcement should be all that's needed and they could also provide a phone number for drivers in the event enforcement doesn't adhere to said message. I'm all for inspections but the multiples some go through is a hassle and a waste of time for all involved. It happens to drivers ALOT !!!!!

Im never scared to roll I keep my Folder handy, my logs neat and all my paperwork labeled and in order, cab cards, Insurance all detailed, I usually hand them the folder, some will ask me to take the paper out of the laminated pages.....Dolly in hand they crawl under and poke and prod while I listen to some Waylon....Out the door, NO STICKER and back over the hump to TN and into another scale, No stickers at last Inspection, I show them the paper, he says MATTER OF FACTLY, "I can inspect you anytime I want", same deal...all the papers, this guys opens the rear, climbs in, Climbs out.....Goes inside comes out with a dog....back in the truck and wants to let his dog in my truck cab....I said I dont mind, but I had food and such laying on my bed, big sniff job, he pulls my mattress out, I mean he cant find anything so hes trying harder and harder, eventually tires of the game, gives me Sticker, now Im 60 Minutes behind....I get all the way to IL and pull into a Rest area to find a Drug DEA checkpoint......Geez these guys are really bored..More dog walks, more in the cab, at the rear, under the truck with a dolly, banging and sniffing and finding NOTHING.......go thru the whole thing again....3 Inspections in one day !!!!

All in the name of keeping me safe, Thanks Officers.

I've never encountered 'serial' inspections, but the ones I've had always result in my getting some documentation that includes date, time, and place - shouldn't that be enough to verify that another inspection is unwarranted?

WE may be out. Did not plan on it, but, as per normal, no parts available. What should have been 2 hours has gone to 3 days, with no end in sight.

On 80 through PA, in 5 years I had never seen the inspection stations open until last week. They must have been doing training. There were no less than 20 inspection officers back there, with trucks filling every spot, and lined up waiting to be inspected. This was even at night.
