So a few carriers i talked to i told them i plannd on getting rims on my van 22 inch black ones as a heads up and it was a no go. i could understand if they were chrome but arent flashy at all and a few other carriers thought it was cool . but i decided sense I want to look as professional as possable i passd on the rims still kinda hurt in side lol but i did do the next best thing i got the stock chevy rims painted black. and left the center hub cover chrome man does it look super good and it has the look i wanted but looks professional as well any thoughts on getting different rims ?

As scott said, the payload is the most important thing..and not just the wheels, id bet that not many 22 inch tires are designed to carry the kind of weigths that "could" go in a 9600 lb gvw van..or even a 8600 lb gvw 3/4 van....

Which one does support the weight?

I can find all kinds that take up to 1200 per tire but only one that can handle 1600.

scot man my newbness got the best of me lol.i didnt think of that and chef yea i thought that if i could haul 4 dirtbikes and its fine then why not. but they do crack with no payload on them to. so imagine being in tx goin 75 and hitting those dirtbike track they have on them highways eh wouldnt be good. lawrence mannn i thought i said i made the professional decision of not getting the 22s and getting the stock rims painted lol now im gonna have to get them just to.

payload is one thing to consider.. Here is another.

Your in BFE redneck country (I are one.. so I can say that) They know big tires. They go on jacked up trucks.

You cut a tire.

Now what?

Stay stock sizes. Nothing wrong with some bling wheels but keep them in the same size as stock (and load range) so if your in a pinch you can run a stock wheel if one is damaged.

Here is another thing to consider. You deliver in Detroit. You pull in to spend the night.

You wake up and your van is on blocks.

How about having two sets of wheels? Have the "Bling" when you're on the show tour, have regular old Detroit steel when you're on the job.

I've seen those rims, and truth to tell so many questions come up that I don't know where to begin. Payload was one, the fact that you're running what amounts to rubber-band tires is another -- nothing to take the shock of running on our pothole-laden streets-- that's actually a big one. The gyroscope effect seems to me to be a possible issue too. Professional appearance. One reason some companies request newer trucks is because they want to avoid sending rusted out rattletraps into their customers, and the problem is that putting those rims on your van makes your work truck look like a toy. Which, surprisingly, it sorta becomes with those rims. Now add a flashy paint job, and you have a van perfect for the show tour, or going down to the beach to attract girls, but perhaps not so wonderful for going into a loading dock and taking on freight.

Some of those "hey my you know what is so tiny I had to buy these wheels" wheels? They'll raise your unsprung weight which is hard on the drivetrain. They'll ruin your wet weather performance. They'll ruin your fuel economy, such as it is. As already mentioned, they'll never carry the weight a 10 ply will and they'll fold under pressure.

Just buy 4 stock steel wheels and have them chromed. Like they did in they old days of hot rodding.
That way you get your bling and still have the load carrying capacity.

Leo, we shouldn't get too complicated with the reasons why not to do it, I tried once to explain to someone who had what looked like yard stick size rims on his lincoln the reason he couldn't make a turn or park in a parking space and it went over his head - he too was a MX professionally licensed dude ... but come to think about it, he didn't have a machete stuck down his pants. :D

Get them powder coated then clear coated, I am having mine down by one of my customers in Poughkeepsie, NY. They specialize in military coatings for corrosion resistance, heat load and friction reduction. Ain't cheap but it is less than buying 4 new rims and these will out last most fancy rims on the market.

I think it was your hard work and determination that got you through your financial problems more than a man in the sky...just my opinion..
