Ridiculous Gas Prices!

Ok, when is the insanity going to end?! Why do the fuel prices keep climbing. Corporate gas companies have to be stopped. Diesel and gas is way to high. The news is saying that people are going under. Ok, either government has to put a cap on gas prices or we are going to become like a 3rd world country. I just see too many signs. Thanks to all the people who voted for Bush! Now you can eat those 4$ per gallon prices. Oh, I guess you could complain to the president but he doesn't care about opinions. Well gas is $3.11 here at the Flying J in Blacksburg, SC.

Unfortunately the U.S relies way too much on imported oil... Why do you think the prices should be lower? I am curious as to what will fall outta this tree. Everyone knew this was coming 50 years ago and they did nothing. Now time to pay the reaper.

Dude, this is not the oil companies who have done this, it is the government.

When will people understand that the oil companies really don't want to see the devalued dollar and they don't want to make their product harder to get for people - less product they sell, the less money they make.

They can't lower the prices to the consumer any more, we are paying the same as Europe and other areas of the world for the base price of fuel and the supply is not that tight. Oh and the speculation price is also not driving the price up, it is the government

And so you know,

It is not Bush

It is not Cheny

It is not a right wing conspericy

It is the congress

It is the congress's response to global warming

It is the congress's lack of response to the need to recharter the EPA

It is both the administrations and the congress's fault not to tell the states that they can't restrict the trucks on federally paid for roads

See what the problem is?

Oh and you're complaining about the price of gas when I paid $4 a gallon the other day for Diesel and I feel lucky I get 11 mpg.

Wait a minute. Didn't we invade Iraq for their oil? That's what I heard, anyway.

Yep, knee jerk reaction to the mistaken notion that climate change is something that humans cause. The earth has been going through warming and cooling cycles for centuries, long before humans were driving around the planet. What's going to happen in a few years when we realize that all the doom and gloom predicted by the radical tree huggers didn't happen and we were enacting policies based on faulty science?

Anyway, I think it's a little bit of this and a little bit of that that's raising the prices. That's why I said the speculation was only part of the problem. I'm not quick to blame the companies though. Exxon still made 9% profit last year, no more than they made in previous years. A lot of other companies make more than 9% profit in a year and nobody accuses them of gouging. How much profit does the government rake in for every gallon of fuel sold?

Seems to me we get paid about the same up here (in Ontario) as you people do, and yet we're paying about $4.45/gallon yesterday! ($1.17-$1.18/Litre, which is roughly one quart!)

Oops, forgot to adjust for our lovely GST.. that would bring it down to $1.12/Litre or $4.24/Gallon, and that's for diesel.

Hey, I remember 10-12 years ago that these same "scientists" were claiming that the earth was cooling and we were headed for "another" Ice Age. Doh!

Oh yeah.....oil is going up because places like China are gobbling it up now and they weren't before.

Why do they need so much oil?

Cause we all herd like sheep into Wal-Mart every weekend and support their manufacturing economy.

yes, piper has a peeve against off shore goods......

Hey that was over 30 years ago.....

But as of yesterday, the biggest support of the Kyoto protocol has come up with a great observation - It seems it has dawned on Miklos Zagoni that the computer models used for predicting global warming are all wrong and his work with ALGORE seems to be a collaboration of pseudo science.

AND

Since the group met in NYC last week or may two weeks ago, there is now talk about a cooling off period in the next few years.

AND

It looks like ALGORE is sort of wrong, part of the problem with measuring global warming is to take temperatures. Well two things seem to have happened, one is that the temps haven't risen in the last eight years as predicted and the other is that someone is finally questioning the placement of the temp sensors in the US where these readings are taken at - it seems that for some reason when you have a temp sensor at next to a freeway or in a parking lot near the surface, there may be a chance that it could be wrong.

Rapid City SD planning commitee just approved zoning for a 3300 sq acre site for a new oil refinery. Also SD just approved the route for a new TranCanada 30" pipeline to Ill. refineries

So, Greg, you must have a PhD in Science and Geology, Right? So, why you driving a truck? Otherwise, you sound like a parrot quoting Rush Limbaugh word for word. And, I gotta say, he's pretty one-sided. You would sound far more intelligent if you would take what he has to say and research the facts on all sides, and form your own opinions based upon a full spectrum of sources and information - not just one.

Also, if you'd like to be among Rush's little army to spread the "word" as he sees it, there is an area in Expedite Online called Soap Box where those opinions are welcomed. Otherwise, it is just about as rude as a Jahovah's Witness showing up knocking on the door of a Jew every day for 10 years trying to convert them to your way of thinking. It aint gonna happen.

Et tu, mypie?

Look people I got to say this and hope no one gets as offended as I am…. AND I am sorry it is long, if Dreamer or Lawrence wants to remove it, go ahead I just ask the mods to leave that to them.

I don’t like Rush, he has broken the barrier that talk radio for all – both sides of the isle that is but that is all. I feel that he, Hannity, O’Reilly and even Ingram all are of the same bunch and all repeat the same things with little in real educational value outside of entertainment – so they are entertainers to me. He and others I mention don’t sit with me as people who want to see things improve. They are not in support of the same things I support and they don’t seem to respect other opinions.

Oh and here is a bit of news for you, I don’t have a radio in my truck, it went out the window a month ago, can you figure out why I am online all the time reading and writing? All I have is XM radio unit with headphones that I don’t listen to much and my laptop with my music, so the chances of me actually listening to Rush during any given day is rather…. Nil…..

My God, let’s see…. If you claim I am a follow of Rush, and he mentioned ALGORE in the in any form of what I said, well he must have the same foreign source as I do.

It amazes me that you call me a parrot but I wonder where you get your news from, I bet it is the same sources as most people who say I am a parrot, Moveon or media matters, maybe? You know I get a bunch of emails from these two organization and the DNC, with guest opinions from many famous leftist. I also get my daily email from Huffington post, so is that really a rush robot? I mentioned a coupe but I would rather you make more informed comments so try Reuters, try AP, go to Der Speigel to start with, expand your knowledge. Also try the BBC – the last time I looked these were all leaning left as a news source can be but they also report the news and they seem not to like Rush either. I have a lot more sources, maybe they are just all right wing outlets in disguise controlled by Rush and Bush.

AND yes this is in the general forum and maybe the thread should be moved - PM Dreamer or one of the mods and ask them to move it, but seeing that this started with a political statement – Falligator said “either government has to put a cap on gas prices or we are going to become like a 3rd world country.”, and then OVM said “Unfortunately the U.S relies way too much on imported oil” and I replied with the fact of who’s fault it really is, it is a political thread. So I don’t see what my last comments were out of place, the connections clear and not coming from “Rush”.

Use your head here, the EPA mandates things, like reformulated gas and ULS diesel, the refineries must comply which cost more to produce the product and because people like ALGORE lies and says that we need to do something right now with skewed data, like the temperature readings, then there is a knee jerk reaction to ‘save the earth’ which ends up doing nothing but costing us more money and restricting our economy.

The funny thing is every point I made is true. The first one is in the press and has been talked about on the BBC, go find it. The second one actually took place but the press ignored it, and one of the people who attended was the president of the Czech republic and the third point is very factual and NASA and NOAA took the website down that listed all the locations of these temp probes so there is no questioning of their expertise.

I find something really odd; you are the fourth person who posted a stab about my education, what wrong with my education?

You know I am not the only one here on this site who has a wide interest in things and a lust for knowledge? You know that? I may just be the most vocal, but so what, you pay the bit bill to keep the servers running for Lawrence?

You know something, I may have that D.Sc. you eluded to (even though you called it a PhD.), maybe I also have a J.D.S, you never know and it don’t really matter in the bigger scheme of things and WHO REALLY CARES?

You do know what a D.Sc. is?

You know why I use the D.Sc. instead of PhD?

Do you know what a J.D.S is?

Please don’t put me into that ‘know it all’ category like others have done. This is a forum; this place does not have to have defendable dissertations or well researched peer refereed position papers that have to pass some expediting standards. I did my share of peer refereed papers and presentation at the pharma company, so I am tired of it. But I think, personal opinion here, is that a bunch of you are having a hard time seeing someone say something about a wide variety of subjects with some passion and confidence.

Oh and one last thing, I am a strong supporter of the Fair Tax, Rush, O’Reilly and Ingram does not support the Fair Tax, the only one who does is Hannity and he only does it because he is friends with Neal Boortz and I think I heard 5 minuted of Hannity in the last 3 months because I was too lazy to switch the channel.
