Rice for President perhaps?

What I learned from reading two or three short paragraphs is that Wall Street types, at least a few of them, like Ms. Rice. Given she has no legislative record to evaluate, many conservatives would worry she just might be Colin Powell in a dress. Powell was never much of a conservative. He used the GOP to climb the political ladder, then bolted to support Democrats once he had nothing else to gain from the Republicans. Choosing a candidate based solely on race or gender makes no sense.
Why?
I don't agree. Just would have to be the right one.
We elected a black man President. And we’ve stood by him (well, some of us have, anyway) through the vicious, protracted onslaught of Republicans who just can’t reconcile themselves to the idea of a black President.
I am not saying that all opposition to President Obama and his policy program rests on racism. Health care reform is a big, messy issue that people can legitimately have a wide range of positions on, to say nothing of the other issues he has had to deal with.
But, can you say, “birthers”? Garden-variety racism that will not go away even after various sane, responsible Republicans finally refudiated the whole idea. “Kenyan anti-colonialism”? Racism dressed up as pseudo-intellectualism. Obama as Muslim? Anything to make him seem less American that all those good, upstanding, white Republicans.
Like the old saying that it is not true that all conservatives are stupid, it is true that all stupid people are conservative, not all Republicans are racist, but all racists are Republicans.
Obama is the first black man actually to win the Presidency, and is anyone surprised that he is a Democrat? When did the Republicans ever have a remotely viable African American candidate for President before Cain? The Democrats had Jesse Jackson in 1988.
