point of view....If someone posts they are on a lucky streak...I wish them well...they can cha ching their hearts away....good for them..:).....glad someone is making some cash....it is a good feeling to go on a streak..... as opposed to being just miserable....
Now that you've unfortunately made this thread about me, the whole subject matter has been lost....

I was just pickin', buddy! Returning the favor form soooo many phone conference calls where I was the brunt of many jokes, from all, laughing it off...It's all good...yes, it is slow, more slow than anyone wants it to be...many of us under tremendous pressure as a result...we all react to this in different ways...

When a friend does well....don't you feel good for them as well as a bit envious it is not you?....but that is normal...If you hit a streak I'd love it and be happy for ya....anyone of the gang I would.....I sure wouldn't whiz in your Cherrios over it...

Sorry about that but you are the one that told me you have always said what's on your mind and felt it was ok to do so whenever you chose.

Now back to the regular scheduled program.

By the way, I just got the call from someone in dispatch..."How low you looking to run for???"....After sitting for awhile quietly and patiently, that's the last thing I need to hear..uggghhh!

Must be the theme of the day. Got my call also

In favor of a dedicated bid team.

If they're bidding on load after load for you, and losing them, that's when they make the call.

Perhaps the how low we will go question should be added on with our dimensions...:)

Also in favor of a dedicated bid team.

I know for a fact dedicated dispatch/bidders works well for large companies. At what point (from small to large) dispatch gets divided, I don't know. John seems to have a good handle on this kind of decision. As for what's going on in practice, we also need to recognize there are new people involved. They'll come up to speed.

It can be tricky assigning specific trucks to dedicated teams in expediting. One team may have 30 specific trucks, but 20 of them might be out of service this week. Another way to break it up is to assign all trucks within a certain region to a specific team. That can be especially effective for areas that are hard to get booked, like AL, MS, LA where the bid team becomes expert in finding loads in all the nooks and crannies of those areas instead of looking in all the normal places.

At E-1 which seemed to work well...rather then dedicated by truck the loads were separated by what they were...
Partner group
NLM group
International group...and so forth....each specializing in those loads....and customers.

well been very interesting reading all of this on this post ,

well yesterday as well as several hours today i been doing numbers like i would be guessing others have as well as of the 20th of may my business pjtransport /load 1 is now down from this time last year into the 2nd quarter by over $15000.00 i double checked it no way but it came back the same way ,,

like a lot of us i am sure of it yes dispatch is doing all they can i truly am sure of this .............. but where is it gone yes some are running and a lot i would be thinking is not i sure do know i am not it is so very hard to talk to my landlord & make excuse,s that we will be late on our rent or ask verizon for extention in my monthly bill just like a lot could be doing maybe yes or then again maybe not ...

some will say i am whinning but this i am not doing and in a week or less i will be going back into hospital for a minor operation on my esophaus ,, that i had to borrow for so i can eat again .. but i am sure as the old saying goes the storm will evenually end & each and everyone of us will be rolling again ,,,

and i might even be able to take that long over due trip back home to see family & friends in australia but yes i really do not think it nothing else but a major lack of expedite freight why we are not moving ..

broke & homeless ...lol

I'm told that there are more changes/evolution coming to how the teams are structured. It is my understanding that these changes will indirectly reduce the number of people each driver deals with on a day to day basis. As long as the changes improve the situation, I would prefer an indirect approach vs a rigid, definite set of policies.

However it happens, I would like to see a system where I know without a doubt that the people who are assigned the responsibility of finding loads for my truck understand what I consider to be an acceptable load. I would like to see a system where I have ONE person who is absolutely responsible for keeping my truck busy. I want to be able to communicate with that ONE person to develop a mutual understanding of what it takes to keep my truck loaded with acceptable loads. I would like for that person to be someone who is actively and directly involved in load procurement for my truck.

I understand the concept of reducing communication between drivers and the operations teams in order to allow them to concentrate on their jobs, but when that concept produces less than acceptable loads, low volume and low overall revenue...IT DOES NOT WORK! I need someONE, someWHERE in that office to be hell bent on keeping my truck profitable. I need direct communication with that person. Speaking for me, and me only, I need to see an improvement soon.

Maybe this is unrelated, but I'm gonna post it anyways:

My gripe with the bid team - The call "Hey Kurt, we've got a load picking up 18 miles from where you're at, going to Dallas. Interested?"

'Hell yes I'm interested!'

"Great! We'll let you know if we get the bid or not!"

Would it be so hard for them to say 'Hey we're thinking about bidding on a load close to you and calling to see if you're interested'. instead of making it sound like they have it already? Especially if I'm woken up...I'm not listening for a name, just the p/u, d/o, d/h and all that. I made mention of this problem when I did the staff survey, and I'm hoping someone takes a look at it.

I was getting a lot of calls like that a few months back. Then I started asking every time, Do we have it or are you bidding. But I've seen improvement. Most of the calls lately for me have been starting out, were bidding on a load... or something like that that makes it clear from the get go. It really don't matter to me in the end anymore, until they say were sending it over I don't get to excited.
